While the new eighth-generation Corvette is undoubtedly exciting,
there is still nothing like the first generation of GM's halo car
to get the hearts of enthusiasts pumping. But, by combining many of
today's modern technology with the old-school-cool look of a C1,
this 1962 Chevrolet Corvette LS3 Restomod embodies the best of both
worlds. Fully repainted in Corvette Red to go along with its
matching accessory hard top, this car has just 31 miles on its
odometer since it was rebuilt.
Inside, we find a set of red leather bucket seats and complementing
Al Knoch door panels and upholstery. A padded three-spoke steering
wheel sits in front of the original six-pod gauge cluster setup,
outfitted with upgraded pieces to give the interior a more modern
feel. A digital Bluetooth-enabled Jensen touchscreen and upgraded
HVAC knobs contrast the dash-mounted rearview mirror and
expletive-bar grab handle with its "Corvette" nameplate spelled out
in 1960s font.
Pop up the hallmark front-hinged hood, and we find a late-model
naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter LS3 V-8. Producing around 430
horsepower in factory form, this particular small block retains its
lightweight block and heads, but has been upgraded with a Texas
Speed cam, long tube headers, and a trick aftermarket active
exhaust that can be controlled via a keyfob button. That power is
then routed through a contemporary Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual
transmission before being sent out to a C4 Corvette rear end. A
staggered set of polished chrome C7 Z06-style wheels measuring 18
inches up front and 19 inches out back are shod in 275/35R-18 and
massive 345/30R-19 Michelin Pilot 4S performance tires
(respectively) that put far more power to the pavement than the
original rubber this car came with.

Corvette LS3 Restomod gets a C5 front suspension and matching C5
spindles, while top-of-the-line Viking double-adjustable coilovers

the tarmac. Four-wheel power disc brakes featuring cross-drilled

even racecars of the 1960s would have trouble matching. So, if
you've always wanted a Corvette and love the look of the first
generation but want late-model performance, this is the car you've
