When it comes to collectible muscle cars, few can match the power
and pizazz of a first-generation Camaro. GM's original pony car was
built to compete with Ford's Mustang and has undergone six
iterations in the last six decades. With 2024 being its final model
year, the Camaro is set to see a rise in post-production value,
which is why this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro 427 Baldwin Motion Tribute
is even more special than ever. Fully repainted in its original
Garnet Red, this car looks to have retained all of its original
panels, even the quarters. A full-length black center stripe glides
over the menacing cowl-induction hood, and over its D80-code front
and rear spoilers, while SS and 427 badges signal to anyone and
everyone that this car means business.
Inside, we find a custom black vinyl interior complete with new
carpet and bucket seats that feature Morris Concepts three-point
retractable seatbelts installed. An AM/FM/cassette player handles
tunes, while the power-assisted three-spoke Rosewood wood-rimmed
steering wheel adds a touch of contrast to the driver's side of
this beast. A three-pod Auto Gage auxiliary gauge cluster provides
all the necessary additional feedback, while the passenger-side
expletive handle offers a bit of solace to any unsuspecting copilot
unaware of the massive thrust this SS is capable of without a
moment's notice.
Under the hood is where things begin to get really fun. While this
car can already be considered special, having already rolled off
the factory as a true SS350 X55, we now find a period-correct and
date-coded 427 cubic-inch V-8. Fed by a Holley 750 CFM single
four-barrel carb that routes fuel through a Bowtie 502/502 Hi-Rise
intake manifold, this engine uses open chamber/large oval port
heads donated from an LS-5 454 V-8. A set of Doug's D320 long tube
headers send spent gasses through a 2.5-inch FlowMaster American
Thunder exhaust to give this 427 a ferocious bark that can only
come from a Golden Age big block.

Power from this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro 427 Baldwin Motion Tribute's
big block is routed through a numbers-matching Muncie M20 Wide
Ratio four-speed manual transmission operated by a Hurst shifter
complete with an old-school T-handle. After that, those ponies head
out to an original 12-bolt Positraction rear sporting 3.31:1 gears,
giving this car a perfect mix of off-the-line acceleration and
relaxed highway cruising. This beautiful machine is a
once-in-a-lifetime find that will only appreciate in value, so if
