Vehicle Description
1979 Chevrolet K-10 Long Bed Pickup
While relatively straight lined and boxy in appearance, (leading to
their "Square-body" nickname from the public), the Rounded Line
trucks were the first generation of the C/K to be designed with the
use of computers and wind tunnels, optimizing the exterior shape
for lower drag and improved fuel economy. The chassis was an
all-new design, (with all trucks receiving a leaf-spring rear
suspension), K-Series trucks moved to all-wheel drive,
(shift-on-the-fly 4x4 was introduced for 1981).
For consignment, a "square body" GM labeled "rounded design" pickup
truck with a K designation. This means it's a 4x4, and our model
shown here has been treated to a once over to ensure there are no
leaks and has new lock out hubs to justname a few of its
attributes. It has nice paint and a powerful 350ci V8 along with
88,142 non verifiable miles on the Race Pack digital odometer.
Classic Trucks are hot right now and we see a trend for owners to
use them as a promotional piece for their businesses. A little
promotion won't hurt will it? Also it has the ability to get a
little mud on the tires.
NOTE: Due to modifications of the emissions control devices
installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and
federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on
public highways in your area.
Exterior
Square and rectangle design abound right upfront with the chrome
trimmed crate grille flanked by single round headlights within
square bezels and turn signals just below in square and rectangle
form. A big bumper protects the front and a nice bowtie badge sits
in the center. All steel with well minded gaps is bathed in
midnight blue which shows well with a few flaws and imperfections.
Leading back to the cab is a cowl induction hood dressed with some
flourish pin striping and there we meet up with two doors, a shiny
large mirror hanging from either side and all correct badging.
Window trimmings are blackened and stainless highlights the drip
rails on the sides. At the back of the cab a sliding rear window
has been optioned in for the rear glass. The bed has a spray in
textured liner which shows in good condition, having limited usage.
Some custom light blue striping runs down the mid body beltline of
this hauler and continues onto the solid tailgate with an embossed
light blue Chevrolet, a custom airbrushed rendition of the truck
and shiny bumper which has the tail lights floating off of each
side of the box. Very shiny 15-inch deep dish multi-spoke wheels
are on all 4 corners, and wrapped with 35x12.50R15LT all weather BF
Goodrich All Terrain radials with like new deeptread.
Interior
The original looking panels are covering the doors and now see blue
vinyl and plastic covering them along with a small storage pouch,
framed by dark blue painted metal trimming. There is some color
loss and flaking revealing a lighter blue shade in areas of the
panels. Slightly stained light blue cloth with darker blue piping
and inserts covers the bench that stretches door to door. The dash
is pure 1979 GM with square and rectangle design that wraps around
the rally style 3 spoke steering wheel, but now contains a
rectangularRace Pack instrument cluster display along with factory
knobs, pulls, and climate control sliders dressing things as they
should. An aftermarket AM/FM/CD radio has been installed and belts
out the tunes. A clean light blue dash pad hovers above all this
goodness and down on the floor we note new deep pile blue
carpeting. In the center of the hump are black bezel and rubber
accordion boot wrapping around the 4WD and transmission shifter.
Above is alldark blue steel for the headliner.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in the engine bay thishigh steppin' hauler is graced
with a resealed 350ci V8. Finished in a patinaed coating of
Chevrolet orange it now has a Holley single 4-barrel carburetor
feeding it, and on back is a 4-speed manual transmission. This
pushes power rearward to a 12 bolt rear and with the pull of a
lever power also goes to the front 10 bolt axle. We note headers
feed down to a new dual exhaust system, sans catalytic converters,
with FlowMaster mufflers for the mightyexhale. Fab!
Undercarriage
Taking a peek down below, the underside is just as nice as the
topside. All rust free black frame supports fairlysolid floors with
some amateur repairs noted in a few areas. For the suspension, its
leaf springs for the front and rear and like new power disc brakes
are up front, and power drums for the rear.
Drive-Ability
I slipped inside and was amazed at the attention to detail,
especially the Race Pack dash. She fired right up and to the test
track we drove where this truck performed nicely and the truck
exhibited nice abundant and seemingly never ending acceleration,
and even a smooth comfortable cruise with plenty of interior room.
Braking was adequate and handling was on par for trucks of the era.

there is a nice gift on the seat for her when she gets in, because
after all you bought the truck...).
