Vehicle Description
In terms of modern-day muscle cars, your options are far fewer than
in the 1960s and '70s. But, where quantity may have dropped, the
quality of the remaining boulevard bruisers is off the charts. That
theory is proved with just one look at this Bright Red 2002
Chevrolet Camaro Z28 35th Anniversary. With its signature T-tops,
SS hood, rear spoiler, and eye-catching 35th Anniversary decals,
this head-turner is just one of 1,037 cars built in this particular
configuration. And with just 52,301 miles on the odometer, this
one-family, two-owner, late-model Pony Car is ready to ride for
years to come.
Inside, we find a clean and comfortable black and grey two-tone
leather interior complete with specialized SS Anniversary
embroidered headrests and matching floormats. The leather-padded
four-spoke steering wheel features thumb-controlled radio functions
to allow you to keep your eyes on the road over the expansive hood,
and occasionally glance at the 7,000 RPM tachometer sitting just
ahead of you to be able to rip off that perfect 1-2 shift. The
stock AM/FM/CD stereo and analog HVAC controls function almost as
well as the day they were new, while the center console adds the
convenience of extra storage to make this Camaro perfect for those
long winding cruises to nowhere in particular.
Under the hood is where this muscle car truly begins to flex. A
5.7-liter aluminum block and heads LS1 V-8 sits wedged between the
bulging fenders of this SS. In stock form, this motor put down an
underrated 325 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, making it
capable of running from 0-60 mph in a scant 5.1 seconds, according
to its Motor Trend test in 2002. This particular car takes that
power and adds a set of horsepower-enhancing long tube headers to
give this car a sinister sound that only a small block V-8 can
make. That power is then routed through a six-speed manual
transmission before heading out to the 12-bolt rear where a 3.42:1
geared limited-slip differential does its best to get all of those
ponies to the pavement.
