Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is pleased to present this 1958 Ford Custom 300.
This classic '58 Ford is a great-looking cruiser that combines
vintage style with a peppy powerplant for a price that won't break
the bank! This Custom 300 comes to us today dressed in good driver
quality paint with a light blue base roof and a white upper body.
The front end of the car looks intimidating, with a bulging hood
complete with a decorative chrome hood scoop, a wide-mouthed bright
chrome grille/bumper combo, and dual side-by-side headlights. As
you move around to the side you'll see the two-tone paint separated
by two sets of chrome body side molding, the rear piece with an
attractive gold ribbed center section. The wrap-around windshield
is framed with a thick border of bright chrome, as is the rear
window. The light blue roof above features a series of grooves that
run front to back as well as a drip rail that runs from the top of
the rear glass on one side around the front of the car to the rear
of the opposite side. Additional bright elements like wiper arms,
driver's side mirrors, and door handles all add to the cool look.
In typical late 50's fashion, the upper body lines that begin
rising just after the doors continue to the rear to form pointed
fins. The view of the car from the rear reveals styling cues
similar to the '58 Thunderbird with a sculpted trunk lid between
two fins, outstretched taillights set in bright oval bezels, a
gleaming chrome bumper, and dual exhaust. Complementing the overall
look of the car are a set of medium blue painted steel wheels with
beauty rings and Ford moon caps all wrapped in a set of staggered
Hankook Optimo tires. Take a quick peek underneath to find
newer-looking mufflers, newer rear shocks and swaybar, and a very
presentable undercarriage.
Open the forward lifting hood and feel your heart beat a little
faster. At the center of this very clean and tidy engine bay is a
Ford blue 302ci V-8 topped off with chrome valve covers, an
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, a Holley 4-barrel
carburetor, and a chrome air cleaner. Other highlights include a
newer-looking distributor, cast exhaust manifolds, and an aluminum
alternator bracket and pulleys. The healthy V-8 is mated to a Ford
5-speed manual transmission - a combination that makes this Custom
300 a seriously fun car to drive! Stopping power is provided by
power front disc and rear drum brakes with a newer booster, dual
reservoir, and a CPP proportioning valve. This is an engine bay
that you could be happy to show off at any local car show!
Just like the exterior of this '58 Ford, the interior is dressed in
light blue, medium blue, and white. The door panels and the seat
upholstery are not OEM design, but they do match each other and
they are in very good condition. The door panels feature a simple
design with medium blue and white vinyl and period-correct-looking
handles window cranks. The comfortable front bench seat appears to
retain its original light blue metal base, with the upper section
now covered with medium blue and white vinyl in very good
condition. The rear bench seat and side panels are done in the same
style and colors as the front. Underfoot is a very nice, newer
light blue hook loop carpet, and overhead is a tight white
perforated vinyl headliner. The dash is painted the same light blue
as the exterior and it looks fantastic! Directly ahead of the
driver is an arching 120mph speedometer with a fuel gauge, all set
in a bright bezel. The odometer reads 79,406 miles, but the title
claims the mileage as discrepancy (likely due to a 5-digit odometer
and the age of the car). Beneath the speedometer to the left are
the ignition, light switch, and air vent pull knob while to the
right are another air vent knob, wiper switch, and a choke knob
(inop). To the right of the speedometer are controls for the fan
and heater which still work as they should. In the center of the
dash is a great-sounding Custom AutoSound AM/FM stereo that plays
your favorite tunes through a newer speaker at the top of the dash.
On the passenger side of the dash, you'll find a glovebox that
contains an owner's manual. Mounted under the center of the dash is
a trio of chrome-trimmed AutoGage gauges that all illuminate as
they should and allow you to keep tabs on oil pressure, temp, and
battery charge - a nice extra! The light blue 3-spoke steering
wheel with working horn appears original and is currently wrapped
with medium blue vinyl on the outside ring. Also on the steering
column is an AutoMeter Street Tach that helps keep an eye on shift
points. Speaking of shifting, rising from the center of the floor
is a chrome dog-leg shifter with a patterned ball and a black boot.
The shifter glides through the easy-to-find gears and the clutch
action is smooth and easy. Around the back in the trunk, you'll
find a plaid vinyl mat, a set of grey rubber floormats, a shop
manual, and a bias-ply spare with a factory jack. The battery has
been relocated to the trunk and outfitted with a cut-off switch and
a battery tender.
This '58 Ford Custom 300 has a great look with brilliant chrome, a
comfortable and inviting interior, and a strong V-8 with a
freeway-friendly 5-speed that makes it a blast to drive! You won't
see many of these Custom 300's at a car show and you're highly
unlikely to find one with all the awesome upgrades that have been
bestowed on this cool ride! Give our friendly staff a call today
and make this turn-key classic your own!
