AACA 1st place winner. Full body off frame, rotisserie restoration
to factory specs. We have photos. The original muscle car! a
stripped down, base model with a NASCAR approved 348-315 hp motor
featuring solid lifters and tri-power carbs. A 4-speed and 4.11
posi completes the package.
EXTERIOR: Is this Grandma's grocery getter? It may appear that way
but not a chance! The post sedan body was completely stripped down
and restored like new. Repainted its original subtle colors. Any
chrome, trim or stainless was restored or replaced. It even got all
new glass. At the time NOS tires were installed on the restored
poverty wheels.
INTERIOR: No frills base model interior with a radio delete, basic
heater and basic upholstery. All that mattered was the 4-speed on
the floor. It is of course completely restored to factory
condition. The metal was repainted, the upholsteries were replaced
etc. It has the correct bench seat shifter with a little white
ball.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Here it is, the first big block! Jumping from a
283 small block in 1957 to a 348 in 1958. This one is the high
performance version with solid lifters and 3 carbs on top! It has
been completely rebuilt and dressed in factory components including
the big air cleaner. It has correct choke tube, glass bowl filter,
reproduction hoses etc. the engine bay was completely apart and
detailed.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Completely repainted throughout. Correct rubber
mat, weatherstrip and decal. Complete with restored rim with
reproduction tire and a jack assembly.
UNDERSIDE: It was taken off the frame and flipped on a rotisserie.
It's still like brand new underneath. The metal floors are pristine
and properly painted in red oxide primer. The x-frame was prepped
and painted black along with the other suspension components. The
steering and suspension were completely rebuilt. The brake system
has been entirely restored along with the fuel system. It has a
correct dual exhaust system that runs neatly along the frame.
Looking up at the motor it is spotless Chevy Orange with canister
type oil filter and correct flywheel cover. The T-10 4-speed is
also completely fresh looking. A rebuilt drive shaft leads back to
high performance 4.11 posi rear! It's spotless under here, this is
a big part of the reason I purchased this car.
SERVICE: We inspected this one and all we had to do was fix the
blower and a turn signal wire.
CONCLUSION: Very cool old school sleeper, the restoration would
cost much more than we are asking. I love the model car that is
included, it is this car exactly!
