Melanson Motors is proud to offer this painstakingly restored 1965
Shelby GT350 restomod tribute. This car started life at the San
Jose, California assembly plant as a Poppy Red, V8, manual
transmission fastback. Offered now in restored condition this
Mustang is a very detailed, performance built, Shelby GT350
tribute. Powered by a professionally built 347 cubic inch stroker
motor, mated to a T5 manual transmission, this Ford is wicked fast
on the street and comfortable at highway speeds. The rear end is a
Currie traction lok 8 inch with Moser 28 spline axles. The 3 inch
stainless steel side exit exhaust gives the car an amazing sound!
The Poppy Red paint is show quality! The white stripes are painted
on and perfectly seamless. It was then water sanded and polished to
a high gloss finish. The car is straight as an arrow with excellent
panel gaps throughout. The restoration started with a rust free car
and every nut and bolt on the car has been replaced or refinished.
The hood is a steel hood modified to perfectly accept a Shelby
scoop and hood pins. Underneath, the car is as clean as the top
side. The floors are painted. The brake and fuel lines are all new.
The fuel tank is new. The suspension features a 1" Shelby drop with
adjustable strut rods up front and traction bars in the rear. The
steering box is a TMS 16:1 Shelby quick ratio box. Inside, the
interior is all new. The carpet, door panels, headliner, and dash
are beautiful. A folding rear seat is installed. The gauge cluster
is clear and everything works perfectly. A dash mounted Shelby
tachometer and oil pressure gauge are in place. Every screw and
piece of hardware is new. A 3 spoke wood rimmed Shelby steering
wheel is mounted and a Shelby shift knob sits atop the shifter. The
pedals are aluminum Shelby racing pedals. The seatbelts are Shelby
style racing belts and even the sill plates say Shelby American.
The glove box contains a real Carroll Shelby signature with a
certificate of authenticity. Under the hood, the wicked 347 stroker
was professionally built in 2014. It has Eagle forged crank and
piston rods. A Comp camshaft, Crane cam springs, and Ford
Motorsport roller rockers. Dart aluminum heads and an Edelbrock
aluminum intake are also installed. Electronic ignition with an MSD
Blaster III coil gives the engine its spark. The headers are JBA
ceramic coated. A high torque mini starter is installed. The car
rides on 16 inch Torq Thrust wheels with a Shelby center cap.The
wheels are wrapped in Firestone radial tires. This is an excellent
