The final year of the 356B model finished in a very desirable color
combination of Black over Black upholstery. According to the
Kardex, the first owner was Albert Marx from Woodland Hills,
California. Delivered by Competition Motors located in Culver City,
California. They were one of seven Porsche distributors in the USA
in the early 1960s.
The paintwork is in beautiful condition, with recent paint
correction and ceramic coating. The upholstery is in excellent
condition and features a VDM Carrera wooden steering wheel, a
deluxe horn ring, and an AM/FM Blaupunkt radio. The front seats
have been re-upholstered with black leather faces. The
undercarriage is solid and rust-free and has been detailed along
with the suspension. The braking system has been completely
rebuilt, and European Collectibles has serviced the engine.
European Collectibles has recently re-acquired this 356B Cabriolet
from a local owner who has meticulously driven and maintained the
356 over the past two years. Upon purchasing the 356, a new set of
German charcoal square weave carpets and a Dansk muffler were
installed. Classy Cars Auto Detailing was commissioned to execute a
comprehensive paint correction, followed by the application of a
CMX Ceramic coating to protect the exterior. Most recently, on
January 8, 2024, The Parts Shop in Huntington Beach, California,
conducted a full service and tune-up. This included replacing the
engine oil, engine filter, sump gaskets, spark plugs, right valve
cover, tachometer cable, fan belt, accelerator cable, fuel filter,
fuel hose, distributor cap, ignition points, and rotor.
Additionally, adjustments were made to the ignition timing,
carburetor mixture, idle, and valves to ensure optimal
performance.
Powered by a very strong 1600 Super engine producing 75 horsepower,
with a smooth shifting manual 4-speed transmission (Type 741) and a
four-wheel drum braking system. It is becoming very difficult to
find good 356 Cabriolets. Complete with a Porsche Kardex, original
Porsche keys, owner's manual, jack, and boot cover. This is a great
opportunity to purchase an open 356 at a reasonable entry-level
price.
