This Ardern Cars Active Power GT was built over the last two years, it has been thourghly tested, and the odometer reads 10 miles. Power comes from a crate 302ci BluePrint V8 (361HP/354 TQ with 9.5 to 1 compression) paired with a Getrag six-speed Porsche 996 transaxle. Curb weight is just under 2100 pounds. Finished in Grigio Silverstone gray with silver stripes, the car features fiberglass bodywork mounted to a powder coated tubular steel chassis with C5 corvette control arms and steering, QA1 adjustable coil-overs and four-wheel disc brakes with Wilwood calipers.
Equipment includes carbon-fiber side mirror housings, Le Mans-style fuel filler caps, dual 10-gallon fuel tanks, custom made stainless-steel exhaust headers, and 17” BR17 Vintage knock-off wheels that have been painted black, while the interior offers black upholstery, period correct grommeted fiberglass seats, Simpson harnesses, Speedhut instrumentation, and air conditioning.
Completed in 2024, this GT40 replica is now offered with a Michigan title that lists the car as a 1968 Ford (replica) GT40 MKI.
The fiberglass bodywork is finished in Ferrari Grigio Silverstone gray with silver over-the-top stripes and features covered led headlights, carbon-fiber side mirror housings, central exhaust outlets, and acrylic side and flap windows. There are minor paint chips around the car that have occurred during the build process, touch up paint will be include in the sale. Gloss black BR17 Vintage 17” knock-off alloy wheels wear three-eared spinners and are mounted with 255/40 front and 315/35 rear Nitto NT555 G2 tires. The car rides on a tubular steel chassis, and the independent suspension features aluminum control arms sourced from a C5 Corvette and QA1 adjustable coil-overs at all four corners. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with red Wilwood calipers all around.
The cabin features fiberglass bucket seats trimmed in black upholstery with ring-grommet ventilation, while color-coordinated carpets line the rear bulkhead, door sills, and floors. GT40 branded floor and sill mats finish out the cockpit. Sound and heat insulation is installed under the carpets. Air conditioning has been installed and blows cold, other appointments include push-button ignition, toggle-switch controls, and Simpson latch-and-link harnesses for both occupants, also a Bluetooth a JBL 4 speaker system with subwoofer is installed with volume control to the left of the steering wheel. The 14” leather Lecarra split-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Speedhut instrumentation consisting of an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 200-mph speedometer, clock, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 10 miles, which represents the distance driven since the build was completed.
The 302ci crate BluePrint V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a newly rebuilt six-speed manual transaxle sourced from a 996-generation Porsche 911. Equipment includes a four-barrel Holley carburetor, Shelby-branded valve covers, and custom stainless-steel “bundle of snakes” exhaust headers. The aluminum radiator is cooled by dual electric puller fans.
