Vehicle Description
Vehicle Details
The 1956 Buick Century represented the pinnacle of Buick's
performance offerings in the mid-1950s. Born from the desire to
inject more excitement into the Buick lineup, the Century cleverly
combined the lighter body and chassis of the Series 40 Special with
the powerful, larger displacement engine typically found in the
senior Series 60 Roadmaster and Series 70 Limited models. This
formula created a potent blend of performance and style.
Under the hood of this particular 1956 Century resides the robust
322 cubic inch (5.3 liter) "Fireball" OHV V8 engine, generating a
healthy 255 horsepower. This power is channeled through the smooth
and efficient Dynaflow automatic transmission, Buick's signature
gearbox of the era.
This stunning two-door example sports eye-catching red and white
paint, a classic color combination of the era. A host of recent
upgrades further enhance this Century's appeal and reliability.
These include a new aluminum radiator for improved cooling, a new
Holley carburetor for optimized fuel delivery, and a new battery
ensuring reliable starts. Performance and handling are enhanced by
power brakes and power steering. Classic wide whitewall tires
complement the car's vintage aesthetic. Further mechanical
attention has been paid with new brakes, brake lines, plugs, plug
wires, distributor, and coil. The interior has been comprehensively
refreshed, featuring excellent condition carpet and headliner.
Finally, all chrome and stainless trim are in good condition,
completing this remarkable example of Buick's performance heritage.
The Century was available in a variety of body styles, including a
station wagon, convertible, and four-door hardtop coupe, making
this two-door hardtop a particularly desirable configuration.
