Transmission Number: 1282319 (5-speed, Type 902/02) - Matches
Kardex
Factory Paint Code: Signal Green (6001)
This highly original '68 912 was sold new by Porsche Cars Pacific
in Burlingame, California to Dorothy G. Shields of San Leandro, CA.
This 912 would remain in the San Francisco Bay Area until August
2021 when it was purchased by European Collectibles. Upon
acquisition it was determined to be 100% original paint, but it
wasn't perfect. Some amateur hand-applied touch-ups had been made
on the hood decades earlier and a large decal had been placed on
the decklid over a paint scuff that left a dent. The hand touch-ups
were carefully polished away (mostly), but when the sticker was
removed, it took the paint with it. The decklid was removed and
repainted and is a perfect color match.
Mechanically, the engine and gearbox were in good working order,
but we still put it through the shop for a full service, tune and
fresh fluids. During this time, the carburetors were removed and
sent to Carburetor Rescue for a full rebuild. Without ever putting
it on the market, the 912 was sold to a very good local client who
paid out of pocket for his own improvement. He sourced a
period-correct wood steering wheel, an appropriate restored
Blaupunkt radio, requested new H4 headlights, and Pirelli CN36
tires. Once it was looking good, it was shipped to La Jolla, CA
where it remained until November 2024 when we bought it back.
This is a rare opportunity to purchase a very original 912 in a
very exciting color.
