Vehicle Description
2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302
Mustang engineers must take solace in the fact that after they've
manufactured the perfect car in the moment, a large contingent of
aftermarket supplies of go faster parts and accessories exists for
new owners. Perhaps solace is the wrong word? Anyway, what starts
off as a powerful, fast, and well tuned car can be taken to near
limitless levels of performance with some skillful additions and
frankly, the budget to match. The sky's the limit for Mustangs
which is why they continue to evolve and appeal to consumers who
like fast factory cars, and a percentage of that fan base that
likes to use Ford's engineering as merely a starting point. Try
that with your Camry!
For consignment, a 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 with a title verified
8,598 actual miles and a long list of modifications that make it
faster, handle better, and breathe easier than your average Boss
302. Only subtle changes to the outside mean this is a wolf in
sheep's clothing and that clothing is mighty fine! All original
parts to return this car to stock configuration will come with the
sale.
Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by
the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws
to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public
highways in your area.*
Exterior
In our time consigning classic cars, we've seen just about every
shade of Boss 302, and there's something that stands out about
Performance White with the black stripe package. It glistens like a
Storm Trooper on wheels and looks just as intimidating. Those
stripes, of course, consist of the hood hump coverage and the
C-stripe on the side that's as dynamic as the Nike "whoosh". Other
black accents include the roof with matte stripes, the Cobra
grille, front splitter, rear wing, and glossy 19-inch wheels. Under
the big rear wing is a rear fascia that is decidedly understated
and if you blink, you might wonder how a GT got by your so quick,
but when you catch up at the next red light, you'll note the
billboard C-stripe on the side, and the sound, but more on that
later! This pampered pony car shows no exterior flaws.
Interior
The Boss interior includes the embroidered Recaro seat, race ready,
and featuring ribbed inserts and bold bolstering. The stitched
pattern is reflected in the door panel surrounded by charcoal
formed plastic that flows to the back walls where supportive 2+2
seating resides. The stitched leather and Alcantara steering wheel
is robust and not overloaded with thumb controls, fronting a
surprising simple gauge cluster and clean, efficient center stack
with an AM/FM/CD player and climate controls. Slide down to the
shifter and you'll find a race spec short throw shifter with MGW
shifter ball grip. Down on the floor, all factory here with
charcoal carpet and a foam backed headliner looms cleanly above.
The trunk is clean and standard too, except for a Cool Tech tower
brace that spans the space behind the seats.
Drivetrain
The heart of the beast is the 5.0 liter RoadRunner V8, originally
rated at 444 horsepower, this one possessing some massaging
compliments of a cammed idle tune by CJ Pony Parts and AirRaid cold
air intake with carbon fiber tube. An Exedy clutch and flywheel
enhance the MT82 6-speed manual transmission which sends power to
rear via a Shelby 5.0 aluminum driveshaft with a front loop on its
way to the Ford 8.8" rear with 3.73 gears and TracLoc. Power disc
brakes are standard here, and found on all four wheels.
Undercarriage
Very clean underneath but the real story are the mods. The exhaust
system consists of a Corsa Xtreme stainless system, a Boss 302
Maxflow H-pipe by MRT Engineered Performance, and Quick Time
electric cutouts with wireless remote tied into the Boss' infamous
quad exhaust configuration. It looks mighty impressive and there
are no cats anywhere insight. Suspension includes KW Suspension
Automotive 2 way adjustable competition KW-Variant 3 shocks, Strano
Performance caster camber plates, and the car's been lowered 1.25".
That's all added to the standard equipment that includes Macpherson
struts in front and 3-link with coil springs and a panhard bar in
back.
Drive-Ability
A turn of the key turns this car that's as pure as driven snow into
a torrent of sound that would make a tornado cower in fear. It's
streetable at idle but once the revs climb, the decibels do too, to
nearly racecar levels without being offensive to the ears as a
Harley might be. All of that exhalation frees up the motor to grab
air and make horsepower and the well designed cabin has a history
of acceptable comfort and practicality. Handling is as you might
expect, exceptional. As a car with so few miles and professionally
installed modifications, all functional items worked as expected.
While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were
working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these
functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
There are Boss Mustangs, and then there's the Boss' Boss and this
is it. If Ford built this special edition with the stout features
this car now possesses, it would have approached $60,000 in 2012
and back then, would have knocked many potential buyers out of the
running. Here's performance on top of performance in an understated
but still aggressive shell. It is a ton of car for the money and
essentially a one of a kind Boss. Are you ready to step into its
office?
