This 1975 Volkswagen Type 2 underwent a 23-window Samba-style conversion and refurbishment in Brazil, completed prior to its import to the US in January 2023 by the seller. Powered by a 1,600cc dual-port flat-four engine paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, the bus is finished in a two-tone gray and white color scheme with color-keyed upholstery.
The bus underwent a 23-window conversion and a repaint in gray and white as part of the refurbishment. Exterior details include a roof rack with wood slats, a side-mounted ladder, and a ragtop-style sunroof. Additional features include white-finished bumpers with overriders, red rubber guards on the trim, and 14″ steel wheels with bright hubcaps mounted with Hankook Vantra LT tires. Scrapes are noted on the bumpers and near the roof rack mounting points.
The 1,600cc dual-port flat-four was installed by The Bug Stop of Arlington, Texas, in March 2023. Work in May of that year included installing a 12-volt alternator and chrome alternator pulley, as well as performing a valve adjustment and replacing the valve cover gaskets and starter. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle, the fluid for which was changed in 2023.
The cabin houses three rows of seats that have been reupholstered in white and gray vinyl, complemented by matching door and side panels. The headliner has been replaced, rubber mats line the floors, and additional features include a blue-tinted wind deflector for the sunroof and patterned window curtains. A two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-km/h VDO speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows 54k kilometers (~34k miles), and total mileage is unknown. The throttle pedal assembly was repaired in March 2023.
Work performed in 2023 also included machining the brake drums, replacing the left-front wheel and right-front brake hose, and installing an adjustable tie-rod assembly.
This Type 2 is offered with service records from the current ownership and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
