the beautiful Spider 1750 Veloce of the late 1960s, Alfa Romeo
released what is surely the famous marque's definitive sports car,
the Spider 2000, in 1969. Retaining its predecessor's
projectile-like body styling by Pininfarina, the svelte and sexy
Spider 2000 featured an aero-efficient Kamm tail and the formerly
recessed headlamps were now uncovered. Powering the 2000 Spider was
Alfa Romeo's great-sounding DOHC 2.0-liter 'four' delivering heady
top speeds approaching 125 mph. By 1976, the model name was updated
to "Spider Veloce" and production continued with detail updates and
stylistic and interior refinements steadily made through 1992.
Unlike many competitors, the Spider Veloce and its eventual
companion models (Graduate and Quadrifoglio) successfully navigated
the rapidly changing times and regulatory demands of the 1970s and
1980s, seemingly defying time throughout a lengthy production
run.Named after the 1967 hit movie "The Graduate," starring Dustin
Hoffman driving an early Spider Veloce, this 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider
Graduate is a high-quality and highly original example of this long
line of fun and responsive Alfa Romeo sports cars. Wonderfully
preserved and presented, this 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate
features stunning "All Black" livery including the all original
paint finish, upholstery, carpeting, convertible top and top-boot
cover. Under 32k miles are indicated at the time of listing,
supported by the clean Carfax vehicle-history report accompanying
it. In addition to the intoxicating sound from the DOHC Alfa Romeo
inline 4-cylinder engine, this Graduate is appropriately equipped
with an updated Alpine AM/FM CD player. Other highlights include a
5-speed manual gearbox, power brakes, useful Jaeger instruments, a
sporty factory steering wheel, and Alfa Romeo embroidered floor
mats. In addition to the clean Carfax, this Graduate comes with a
factory maintenance manual, a CarDisc DVD technical data, and
Alpine radio manual. Popular when new, but rare today in such
original and well-maintained condition, this captivating 1986 Alfa
Romeo Spider Graduate benefits from recent inspection and
detailing, making it ready to own and enjoy as desired. Be sure to
