Vehicle Description
2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer SS
The Chevy Trailblazer was a four door midsize SUV that ran from the
2006 through 2009 model years. Although the standard Trailblazer
was a popular family SUV that mostly competed with the Ford
Explorer, GM decided to do something a little different with it
during that time. As a sturdy body on frame SUV, the Trailblazer
was well equipped to hold a powerful V8 engine, and GM did exactly
that by debuting the Trailblazer SS in 2006. It wasn't unusual for
GM to go this route with an SUV. The automaker had already made
some high performance SUVs in the past, including the GMC Typhoon.
The Typhoon featured a turbocharged V6 engine and was one of the
fastest vehicles available between 1991 and 1993. GM only made 5000
units of this speedy SUV. However, when the Trailblazer SS debuted,
it was given a Corvette engine. Eventually, the Chevy Trailblazer
SS would compete with Jeep and the Grand Cherokee SRT8, which was
specifically made by Jeep to outrun the Trailblazer. Ultimately,
the experiment didn't last long. Only about 26,000 models of the
Trailblazer SS were ever made.
For consignment, the wolf in wolf's clothing SS trim level gracing
this 2 owner 2006 version of the Chevrolet Trailblazer. It's not
all killer horsepower and sinister good looks, it has the benefit
of added extra luxury and convenience features including a
six-disc, in-dash CD changer, a six-speaker premium amplified audio
system, OnStar, polished aluminum alloy wheels, luxury leather and
suede trimmed seating surfaces, dual heated front bucket seats,
Driver Information Center, a dual-zone automatic climate control
system, and a driver's memory system for driver's seat, mirrors,
and radio preset settings. This SUV has been owned by our consignor
since 2012 and will include all service records dating back to the
time of his purchase, has had new rear air bags, a new ignition
switch, and a new blend door actuator all installed. All of this
wrapped up in a nicely priced and 127,337 title verified mileage
clean black wrapper.
Exterior
Miles have been kind to this 4x4 family hauler that doubles as a
boulevard ass kicker as it hardly has any faults to speak of on the
exterior metal. Gaps are extremely well minded, and all are bathed
in a wonderful coating of menacingand sexy black. About the only
real faults worth noting is some scuffing on the rear bumper and
clear coat degradation on the polished wheels. A blacked out
honeycomb grille and surround lead the way fully bedecked with a
gold bowtie badge and crystal clear aerodynamic wrap-around
headlights. A body matching neoprene crash bumper is below and is
complete with round fog lamps. Black trimming surrounds the factory
tinted glass all around, and up top a power sunroof and shark fin
antenna for the OnStar and stereo system. Rounding out the tail end
are tall wrap-around taillights and in between we see a dual
opening gate with the glass able to be opened separately from the
gate. Highly polished multi spoke wheels are wrapped in nearly new
255/45R20 blackwall rubber. The force is strong with this one!
Interior
High quality black leather bolstered seats with plush suede inserts
awaits you to nestle yourself inside of this luxury capsule. And
you have heated and memory seats to add to your comfort. A black
plastic center console races towards the dash and has a large
leather armrest/storage bin cover perfectly aligned for your right
and left elbows respectively. As it moves toward the dash, we can
see a single cup holder and the leather wrapped automatic shift
lever. As we move upward the black plastic continues around the
dials for the rear wiper, digital climate controls and the Premium
AM/FM/6 CD Stereo. In front of the driver is a multi-gauge cluster
with black faced gauges, a silver faced tachometer and LCD
odometer, which is amazingly easy to read. In back is a large
leather bench with comfy seating for 3 adults and maybe more kids!
The back cargo area with a luggage shade is covered in more black
carpeting on all floors. Above is a sunroof and a nice tight
seamless Pewter cloth headliner.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a venerable and Corvette derived 395hp 6.0 Liter
V8 LS2 engine with an Air Raid cold air intake. It is fed by EFI
and has a 4-speed 4L70E automatic transmission. 4.10 geared axles
provide the final drive with the rear axle holding a limited slip
differential within the 9.5" axle. All clean and good under this
hood.
Undercarriage
Well cared for up top and underneath has been very nicely kept with
only surface rust making an appearance over the suspension
components. Speaking of which, we note an independent front
suspension and in the rear, we see a 3 link with air bags and a
panhard bar arrangement. Our consignor notes that the air
suspension was recently redone. Power disc brakes and new rotors
are on all 4 corners and a Corsa cat back single exhaust system is
in place and looking good.
Drive-Ability
Quick starter, smooth runner, blistering acceleration from the V8.
Swift steering response and good cornering for an AWD. All
functions and options are fully working, and the black leather fits
my posterior like a well broken in glove. A great drive and
experience for this boulevard bruising beauty. While Classic Auto
Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of
our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working
at the time of your purchase.
An all-exacting working Trailblazer in high performance SS form,
plenty of convenience options, go anywhere AWD capability, and all
very clean and original. So, come in and take a look and see how
the other half lives! Drive it home and live the dream, USA-1!
