Vehicle Description
2009 Pontiac G8 GXP Sedan
The 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP is just the sort of four door Corvette
Americans have long prayed for, with sharp steering, fabulous
response from the four piston Brembo brakes, exceptionally balanced
and neutral handling, and a simple and classy look to the interior
layout and trim-all for a price that undercuts that of a comparable
BMW by $20,000. I'm gonna need at least 400hpto get the kids to
school. -Thx Car and Driver
For consignment, from the last year of the Pontiac Motor Division's
existence comes the most powerful car in the line up in the form of
a 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP 4 door sedan. The one is still sparkling with
179,101 title verified original miles, is a garage kept one owner
example, was 1 of only 1,829 made and 1 of 169 bathed in Sport Red
Metallic. Yes, they are not making this one anymore so it's ripe
for the picking, and you can go fast in 4 doors. Gone like a
freight train, gone like yesterday, gone like a soldier in the
civil war...bang bang.
Exterior
Aggressive aero would be the mantra for this car. It starts with
the split BMW-esque grille with the arrow on the rounded over beak
and then in the lower valance even more openings in the center and
a fog light on the corner. On the upper corners, aero inset
headlights which wrap around the front quarters. The hood has dual
whale blowhole openings and the front quarter edges another
opening, breathe it in! A swept back raked windscreen melts into a
very rounded over roofline which still uses some chromed edging for
the glass and has a rarely optioned power glass sunroof. The gaps
are nearly perfect as is the Sport Red Metallic paint. This paint
is very nice but does suffer from some chips in the nose as would
be expected with the higher mileage that has been accrued. Also we
note a ding and touch up at the rear of the left front fender arch.
This aero roofline gently lands on the trap trunk deck which sports
a small spoiler on top and we see some more aero tail and backup
lighting making the corner at each rear quarter. A neoprene bumper
is below with a diffuser and dual dual exhaust underneath. The car
rides on polished 19-inch wheels and all wrapped up by 245/40ZR19
rubber.
Interior
Onyx Black prevails on the sculpted door panels with satin silver
accents peppering them. Onyx leather covers the high back high
headrests bucket seats with a white embroidered GXP in their
uppers. The seats show with age related use and wrinkling and there
are two more in back as a 2 plus 2 bench. A nice console runs by
these buckets and ends at the dash but not before showing off some
window toggles, a mirror touchpad and the sporty shifter with a
leather boot. Several buttons for the seat heaters and traction
control are here as well. Just above in the center rise are the
climate control knobs and an AM/FM/CD changer stereo that is
Bluetooth and XM capable stereo. Under the crescent shaped dash
hood are 4 round gauges 2 large and 2 small and a center red LED
readout panel. The factory rally style wheel fronts the crescent.
Clean plush charcoal gray carpeting floods the floors and above is
a tight headliner surrounding the sunroof.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 6.2 liter LS3 V8 capable of 415hp. It has EFI
and a Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission. A 3.70 geared Posi
rear is on. The dual exhaust is original equipment.
Undercarriage
All showroom with independent Macpherson struts for the font and
independent coil springs for the back. Power disc brakes all around
with the fronts being Brembo.
Drive-Ability
This car upon fire up sprang right to life with a menacing burble
and I knew I was in for a treat. It ran like the wind and handled
like a bullet train. Lots-o-power for sure! All functions were
working like a charm save for the power sunroof which didn't move
when prompted. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
Get it while it's hot, the LAST year of production and most
powerful Pontiac made that year, all wrapped up in a well cared for
1 owner package and looking just fab and fast.
