This is a beautiful older restoration of a rare 1940 LaSalle Series
52 Convertible Sedan that can be driven and enjoyed and presented
at local and regional car shows. Being the 66th of 125 made for the
1940 Series 52 model year, this is an incredibly rare example. The
survival rate of the LaSalles through WWII and later was very low.
This LaSalle is in overall No. 2 condition and drives very well.
This would be a wonderful CCCA CARavan car and can be used for
regional concours events. The livery is a beautiful deep Antoinette
Blue (Paint Code No. 2) that looks black but lights up as a
gorgeous blue in the sunlight. The paint has a nice luster and
finish that is show quality. There is one dent that is very hard to
see on the drivers' front fender, otherwise the paint is excellent.
The chrome and stainless on the bumpers, door handles and trim
moldings look great. We love the art deco stylized airplane wing
bumper guards. This is a running board delete example which offers
a very sleek and sexy look. The wheels are featured in Vincennes
Red with dual tan pinstripes. The tan canvas convertible top is
somewhat faded as it is older, but it fits well and is easy to
raise and lower. The top boot is also older but fits very well. The
dual side mirrors are very functional and look correct. We love how
the LaSalles look without the side mounts making them much more
streamlined and modern in appearance. The interior has newer
Burgundy Red Leather (Trim Code 28) that looks terrific with the
dark blue exterior and feels very soft and supple. The maroon
carpeting also looks very nice, and the dashboard is in very nice
condition. The chrome and stainless for the interior are also in
excellent condition. The instruments work as they are supposed to,
and the steering wheel is in excellent condition. The LaSalle 322
CID V8 is said to produce 130 hp and performs well with its
three-speed transmission that has the column shifter. It has
benefitted from a new wiring harness and the engine compartment has
been recently detailed and is in overall show condition. The
chassis has also been painted and looks great. The Series 52 has
the 123-inch chassis. For more information and details, please call
or text Harry Clark at 1.602.245.7200 or email us at
[email protected]. The LaSalle is available for inspection
at our showroom in Phoenix. We are pleased to coordinate
inspections, and we help coordinate shipping worldwide. We also
have financing partners if you are interested in financing.
