1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS5
True 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS5 (Non-matching numbers). This car was a factory 454 SS, has a later model 454 block. Engine was built to LS5 specifications, Makes good power for street cruising. Exhaust exits under the rear bumper as it should and it is equipped with Flowmaster Hushpower II mufflers that give it a good mellow and muscular tone. This car has been built to drive. It has all QA1 suspension, from the control arms to the trailing arms. It has QA1 coil over shocks, sway bars, etc. It is equipped with Wilwood 4 wheel disc brakes (six pistol front, four piston rear, additionally a Wilwood master cylinder). The transmission is a TCI Streetfighter (TH350) rated for up to 700 hp with a mild stall converter and a manual valve body. The radiator is a Griffin Direct fit Aluminum unit with dual SPAL fans that are wired to operate on a thermostat and keep the car cool. It has the original (rebuilt) 12 bolt posi rear end with 3:73 gears. The interior is restored to nearly factory with the exception of a tastefully designed console that houses additional Auto Meter gauges. The gauges in the dash appear factory but they are Dakota Digital RTX gauges that have the look of factory instruments but the functionality of later digital gauges. There is also a full Alpine stereo with corresponding speakers and an amplifier and subwoofer. The trunk is completely upholstered and houses the subwoofer and amplifier very tastefully. The paint on the car is what I’d classify as very high quality “driver” paint, it shows very well with some minor imperfections that you really must hunt to find. The car lived the majority of its life in California and is completely 100% rust free. The hood is the factory (functional) Cowl Induction Hood. This car is equipped with Holley retrobright LED headlights and LED tail lights that keep the factory appearance but perform like late model lighting.
