Porsche is no stranger to "more power and rear wheel drive", a
performance combination revered amongst car enthusiasts and racers
alike. The Porsche 911 GT2 RS name laid dormant in Stuttgart for
almost 10 years, last used in 2009 with the 997. Then in 2017, the
991 GT2 RS was announced and the GT2 RS moniker was reborn. With a
staggering 690 horsepower produced from its 3.8-liter
twin-turbo-charged engine, this dual-clutch, rear-wheel drive
"widowmaker" was an instant sensation. This immense power allows
the GT2 RS to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds, with a
top speed of 211 mph. Adding on top of its already resounding
positive press, it set a production car lap record at the
Nrburgring with a 6:47 minute lap time, cementing this car as the
"baddest" street-legal cars in the world, bar none.
This 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS was spec'd in Black over a black
leather interior with red Alcantara accents. One of only 196
examples spec'd in black for the North American market, the GT2 RS
was also optioned with a number of boxes during the build phase
which led to a MSRP sticker price of $334,490 in 2018.
These options included the Weissach Pack, which reduces the car's
already featherweight by another 40lbs through the use of carbon
fiber and titanium, including a carbon fiber roof. Other options
chosen include 20"/21" 911 GT2 RS Magnesium Wheels, Front Axle Lift
system, LED Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) in Black,
Lightweight Carbon Fiber Seats, Chrono Package with Preparation for
Lap Trigger, Extended Range Fuel Tank (23.8 gallons), Light Design
Package, Bose Surround Sound System, Illuminated Door Sill Guards
in Carbon Fiber, Steering Wheel with Top Center Mark in Red, Sun
Visors in Alcantara, Auto-Dimming Mirrors with Integrated Rain
Sensor, Fire Extinguisher, Headlight Cleaning System Covers Painted
in Exterior Color, and more.
The GT2 RS was driven sparingly, evident by its original mileage
but also immaculate condition upon arriving at Canepa, flawless
inside and out. Despite this, Canepa wanted to bring this GT2 RS to
the next level to finish off the car and make it unique for a
future owner. The OEM Porsche 911 GT2 RS Magnesium wheels were
refinished in Canepa's iconic Magnesium Charcoal Graphite finish,
upgrading the stealth of the 911. Custom Canepa tartan seat inserts
were created and installed into the seats, calling back to the
heritage of the original 911 Turbos 50 years ago. Finally, Canepa's
proprietary Carbon Fiber Winglets designed in house were installed
in lieu of OEM Porsche rear spoiler for an understated look. All
Porsche OEM components were saved and are included with the sale of
his 911 GT2 RS.
Now completed and offered by Canepa, this GT2 RS stands out amongst
a crowd of sports cars and other 911s. With unique touches that
call back to the history of the original 911 Turbos, and others
that enhance the already menacing stance and motorsport appeal of
the GT2 RS, this example is ready to be enjoyed to the fullest and
experience what made it an instant winner in Porsche's long lineage
of sports cars.
