Vehicle Description
1955 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan. It indicates 61,663 miles, but I
suspect that the odometer has already rolled over once. Under the
hood is a 272 Y-block V8 with dual exhaust and aftermarket mufflers
to really hear the rumble of Ford's first overhead cam V8, and it
is mated to a Ford-o-matic 3-speed automatic transmission. It has
been repainted in the red and white two-tone you see in the
pictures, and it is a very nice driver's quality paint job as it
shows some fading and some nicks from driving over the years. The
car has new brake lines, shocks, and a completely re-wired ignition
system to return the car to its original 6-volt, positive ground
configuration with NOS parts whenever possible. These parts include
a NOS Holley 6-volt Voltage Regulator, 6-volt starter solenoid, NOS
6-volt starter, spark plugs, and plug wires. It also has
remanufactured cylinder heads, new driver-side intake and exhaust
valves, a new fuel pump and fuel feed hose, a new water pump, and
the valve lash and timing were recently verified. It also sports a
new interior carpet. The car is far from perfect, however, and it
needs someone who is willing to take it to the next level to be a
show car and comfortable cruiser. Unfortunately, I do not have the
time anymore to take it to this level, so my loss can be your gain.
The engine is tired, and it is likely in need of a rebuild as it
burns oil, and the driveline seals need replaced. The headliner
needs rehung, and the seats also should be reupholstered for the
best driving experience. The dashboard is in need of two gauges
being reconnected, as well as the clock and radio for the
electrical system need reconnecting. Overall, the car is a great
project with very nice bones and lots of aftermarket support. It
has been great to work on and drive it around, but it is time for
me to pass the car on down the road . Please Note The Following
