From the 1969 Oldsmobile sale brochure.

For consignment, a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass S convertible with a non verifiable 5,947 miles on the odometer. Coming to ourHallowed Halls with all new parts as of 8 years ago, now with a Chevrolet 350ci crate engine under the hood, and outer enhancements that pay tribute to the ultra rare 4-4-2 W-30. Add in a new interior by Legendary Interiors and the ultra kewl Killduff lightning rod shifters and this certainly isn't your father's Oldsmobile.

Exterior
Two stage Tahitian Turquoise paint covers the car, which is striking on its own, but when you add hood scoops with painted stripes, hood pins, a white convertible top, and polished to the nines forged Weld Racing wheels, the curb appeal shoots way up. With few exceptions, cars today don't advertise their raciness with bold stripes and exterior trimmings, but in the era of this Cutlass S, the louder the exterior, the greater potential to lose your pink slip in a race. Your view of a car like this will be the curving trunk lid, flush mounted bumper, fluted exhaust tips, simple vertical tail lights and the fat 255/60R15 tires. The side markers on the front fender are a simple square lens, but out back the marker takes on the Oldsmobile rocket logo in a tasty little design cue that's easy to miss among this bold presentation. The white canvas top, paint, metalwork, and well minded gaps are very nice and we could not find any glaring exterior imperfections save for a few touch ups, imperfectly sanded areas of body filler, and a small paint run.

Interior
Blistering white door panels welcome occupants with a stitch patterned insert and clean, straight lines. The bucket seats, in morebright white, are heavily padded and tall, more robust than the originals, and share a center armrest/storage bin. In back, a more textured vinyl with the same tufting and tuck and roll stitching along with an added center armrest with cup holders. The driver gets a Grant 4 spoke steering wheel that fronts a triple gauge cluster with some updated AutoMeter gauges over the stock heater control panel. In the center is an AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth capability right next to the electric top control toggle. Fitted in the center console is now an array of billet shifters in "lightning rod" format courtesy of Killduff augmented by two cupholders to address our modern propensity to drive with beverages. Low pile black carpet is underfoot and all is like new thanks to the Legendary Interiors kit.

Drivetrain
A clean engine is under the hood and it's a Chevrolet 350ci crate engine monster which puts out 333 horsepower. It is topped by a 4-barrel carburetor on an aluminum intake manifold and dressing things up a bit are flame etched chrome valve covers and a pleated top air cleaner assembly. All of the ponies are moved forward by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission sending ground pounding power to the Dana 60 axle with 3.73 gears courtesy of the folks at Strange Engineering. Wilwood power brakes help halt the motion with discs found on all 4 corners.

Undercarriage
Nice and clean underneath with minimal surface rust and no apparent leaks or errant fluids save for a few drips on the bottom of the bellhousing. The dual exhaust comes off headers and meets stainless steel piping before intersecting a pair of Pypes mufflers on its way to the back. New Hotchkisstubular control arms live up front where coil springs are part of the independent suspension. A 4 link with coil springs are out back along with a Hotchkiss rear sway bar and tubular control arms.

Drive-Ability
The hills of Morgantown come alive when we crank the Cutlass to life and the guttural note is like music to the ears. We put our foot in it enough to track around the loop where the car performs very well, sounds great, and tracks straight. All functions worked as designed and we returned to the paddock with gleaming smiles on our faces. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Here's a Cutlass you can't call gutless! It courageously takes on some of the appearance of a W-30 and packs a punch with the Chevrolet 350 cuber under the hood. Stripes, scoops, and a snappy color combo make a bold statement, and this near show quality convertible Oldsmobile is a turnkey winner. Make room in the garage, because this lady is ready for a new dance partner.
