To replaced the Master Eagle, Chevrolet introduced the Master and
Master Deluxe in 1933. Production continued until 1942 and in 1940
a more expensive option, known as the Special Deluxe, was launched.
These were unique cars and have an interesting history as it was
the last Chevrolet that would be exported to Japan in a knock down
kit to be assembled in Osaka. These cars were created in the "Art
and Color" GM era where cars took on a more corporate appearance
with rounded fenders and a hidden radiator behind a front nose with
grill. This 1940 Special Deluxe was built in a Hot Rod style and
has been garage kept by the current owner with receipts of engine
work, etc dating back to 2007. It is painted in Red and wears its
original hood trim, side trim, window stainless, chrome grill,
front bumper and rear bumper. The glass was all replaced in 2008.
It is mostly steel but the rear fenders are fiberglass and 2 inches
wider than stock. That stock chrome headlights are mounted on the
front fenders as are the turn signals. In back it has 2 sets of
brake lights with 1 set being larger LEDs. The wheels under it are
old school Wilwoods with Mastercraft Avenger G/T tires.
The engine is a 350ci/330hp crate motor that has 3,200 miles on it
and was installed in 2007. The car comes with a lot of receipts
documented various mechanical things done to the car. It is fitted
with chrome Chevrolet valve covers, a chrome air cleaner, a 4
barrel 600cfm carburetor and headers into dual exhaust. It is
cooled by aluminum radiator was added in 2008. The transmission is
a 4 speed manual with hydraulic clutch and sends power to the Ford
9 inch positrac rear end with 3:55 gears and 31 spline axles. Other
nice additions include adjustable coil overs and 4 wheel Wilwood
disc brakes with emergency brake.
The interior is complete in a Black and Red combination with
aftermarket high back bucket seats with built in retractable
shoulder belts. The shifter is mounted to the floor and moves
through the gears smoothly. In front of the driver sits a stock
style 3 spoke leather wrapped steering wheel. Looking through the
receipts various pieces of the interior hardware has been replaced
overtime. It has white face Sunpro gauges that are mounted in a
billet bezel. An aftermarket heater and defrost system installed
but the car does come with an AC system as well should its next
owner want to add that too.
This Hot Rod Chevy is a fun driver as is but also has a lot of room
so a buyer could make it their own.
This classic Chevy could be yours for $23,000.00!
This car is located in Little Meadows, PA.
