1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Hardtop
This 1964 Mercury Comet had a body-off refurbishment that included
a color change to red, an interior re-trim, and installation of a
5.0L Windsor V8 and a four-speed automatic transmission. Under the
hood is a 5.0L Windsor V8 that sends power to the rear wheels via a
four-speed automatic transmission installed as part of the build.
The engine features electronic fuel injection and an MSD
distributor.
The grille wears a V8 insignia, while Caliente badging adorns the
fenders. Further details include quad headlamps, a single
driver-side mirror, and dual polished exhaust outlets. The 14?
Cragar S/S wheels are wrapped in 205/70 Hankook Kinergy ST tires.
Front disc and rear drum brakes provide the stopping power
The front and rear bench seats are upholstered in gray cloth and
black vinyl, which extends to the door and side panels. Woodgrain
trim adorns the dash and door panels, and black carpets line the
floors. Equipment includes air conditioning, an AM radio, and front
lap belts. A two-spoke steering wheel is paired with a
column-mounted shifter and fronts a horizontal-sweep 120-mph
speedometer flanked by readouts for fuel level, oil pressure,
amperage, and coolant temperature. A Bosch water temperature gauge
has been added below the dash.
Mercury Comet Caliente was their top-of-the-line series. "Caliente"
in Spanish means hot. This red Comet speaks the language, it's
elegant with bold, clean lines, wide sturdy stance and you will
find luxury on the inside. Give LRA a call at 215-781-3790 or email
