With custom coachwork by Fleetwood, this 1930 Cadillac Model 353
All-Weather Phaeton exhibits impressively original elements.
Exported to France when new, this Cadillac spent much of its life
in Europe, even participating in multiple F.I.V.A. rallies. As a
CCCA-approved Full Classic, this Cadillac 353 makes for an
excellent and readily drivable collector automobile.
Finished in Duco Maroon with Crockett Brown lower panels, this
Cadillac features what is believed to be its original Taupe Bedford
cord weather-resistant upholstery. Upon original production, the
vehicle was shipped to Inglis M. Uppercu Cadillac Corporation in
Newark, New Jersey for export. In 1960, Allentown, Pennsylvania
collector Leonard Pool, acquired the Cadillac in France. After Mr.
Pool died in 1975, his widow sold the car to fellow Allentown
resident Bernie Berman, a well-known collector of art and cars. In
the years that followed, Mr. Berman sent the Cadillac back to
France to showcase and drive it in European rallies. This
All-Weather Phaeton was shown at the 1988 GP de Suresnes Concours
d'Elegance in the Schlumpf Collection, where it received a
first-place award. In the late 1990s, 504806 took part in two
F.I.V.A. rallies, which included the 1998 Parade of the Century in
Paris. Purchased around 2011 by a knowledgeable enthusiast of
American classics, the Cadillac was once again brought back to the
United States.
Powered by its 353 cubic-inch V8 engine paired with a 3-speed
manual floor-shift transmission, this Cadillac generates 96
horsepower at 3,000 rpm. Freshly serviced, this car benefits from
fluid changes on its transmission, differential, cooling system,
and engine oil. It also has new spark plugs and brand-new black
wall tires, with spares. Included with the vehicle are
miscellaneous small parts and tools, trunk cover, a reproduction
shop manual, a hardcover 1998 Rallye Mondial F.I.V.A. book, and a
copy of the Cadillac Motor Car Co. distribution tag listing its
intact color combination and original equipment.
