Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is proud to present this beautiful 1970 Chevrolet
Nova to you today. Back in October of '70 when this car was built
it was painted Green Mist, sported a Dark Green vinyl top, and had
a Dark Green cloth bench seat. Today this Nova looks like a
completely different car! It now wears a very slick coat of Pewter
Metallic paint over the whole body including the top and the
interior is outfitted with new Scat ProCar black vinyl bucket seats
- but that's not anywhere close to all of the changes and upgrades
bestowed on this rowdy Chevy. This Nova is badged as an SS, but
without any original paperwork or a numbers-matching engine, there
is no way to prove that. We can say that this car has so many
modern upgrades that once you've driven it, you won't care if it's
an SS or not. Let's dig a little deeper into the details of this
stunning ride...
Up front, you'll find a cowl hood, a black grille with SS badging
flanked by single headlights, and a mirror finish new chrome
bumper. The side view of this Nova shows off its aggressive stance
(achieved with QA1 adjustable coil-overs and staggered tires) and
really showcases the brilliant pewter metallic paint. Body-color
faux fender louvers and a gleaming Nova badge ride just behind the
front wheels. Quality brightwork really pops from the side view
with bright window trim, drip rail moldings, dual chrome side
mirrors, and chrome door handles. The finishing touch is grey
metallic Vision Legend Series wheels wrapped in General Gmax tires
up front (215/50 R17) and General Grabbers in the rear (255/60 R17)
- a great combination and a fantastic look! Around the back you'll
see another chrome bumper, a black band with SS badging that fills
the space between the taillights, a hidden gas fill behind the
license plate, and a "Nova by Chevrolet" badge on the trunk lid.
Prepare to be impressed when you take a peek under this Chevy - not
only are there new floor pans coated in Lizard Skin and a new
stainless gas tank, but there are a whole host of suspension
upgrades. Up front are tubular control arms, QA1 Coil-overs, a
Hotchkis sway bar, and a new UniSteer rack pinion. Moving toward
the rear are frame ties, CompEngineering Slide-A-Link traction
bars, QA1 shocks, and another Hotchkis sway bar. Needless to say,
this car is built to handle power and handle well on the road.
Lift the hood to display a show-ready engine bay that's bound to
get your heart pumping faster. The engine bay and the underside of
the hood are painted slick black and provide a perfect backdrop for
the impressive drivetrain and accessories. At the center of it all
is an orange 350ci V-8 that has been transformed into a mean 383
Stroker. It's topped with aluminum heads, black "383 Stroker" valve
covers, an Edelbrock Victor Jr. single plane intake manifold, MSD
Atomic fuel injection, and a black air cleaner with a "383" decal.
Ahead of the engine, you'll see a newer Sanden A/C compressor, a
newer alternator, and a power steering pump all connected with
aluminum brackets and pulleys. Starts are quick and crisp courtesy
of an MSD billet distributor, an MSD 6AL box, and a PowerMaster
ultra-torque starter. Keeping operations cool is no problem with a
new Griffin aluminum radiator and 2-core transmission cooler. To
offset the greater stroke of this aggressive engine a new vacuum
pump and reservoir have been added, along with a deep sump oil pan.
Exhaust flows from ceramic-coated Hooker headers through dual
mufflers and empties behind the rear wheels with an authoritative
growl. This formidable V-8 is mated to a GearStar 200R4 4-speed
automatic overdrive transmission with a 10" converter and a light
G-Force cross-member. Power travels to the rear wheels via a new
driveshaft and a 12-bolt rear axle with open gears. With all this
power, you're going to need some serious brakes to stop this beast
- and this is more than capably handled by a new chrome booster and
master cylinder, new proportioning valve, Baer front calipers, PBR
rear calipers parking brake, and drilled slotted rotors on all four
corners.
With all of the upgrades we've mentioned so far, it should come as
no surprise that the interior of the car has received the same
level of attention. The OEM-correct door panels are in very good
condition and feature black vinyl with a white horizontal accent
stripe and bright trim. High-quality black hook loop carpet
welcomes you inside to enjoy the new Scat Procar black vinyl bucket
seats. The seats offer high supportive bolsters to keep you
centered during "spirited" driving and 3-point seatbelts for
safety. On the center of the floor just ahead of the seats is a
cool BM hammer shifter with a correct indicator for the 4-speed
automatic OD transmission. Ahead of the driver is an aftermarket
D-shaped 3-spoke black leather-wrapped steering wheel with bright
accents and a working horn button. This wheel is on a new Flaming
River tilt steering column that's been painted in pewter metallic.
The steering wheel frames a Covan Classics gauge bezel outfitted
with working Autometer gauges for oil, temp, volts, and fuel as
well as a speedometer and tachometer. Below the gauges to the left
are controls for the lights and the working 2-speed wipers. To the
right of the gauges are controls for the Vintage Air system which
offers cold A/C and hot heat with a strong fan on demand.
Underneath is a great-sounding JVC AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo that
plays your favorite cruisin tunes through a newer dash speaker and
2 6X9s on the rear package tray. Keeping all of these electronics
functioning as they should is a new Painless wiring harness. The
top of the dash is covered with a crack-free black vinyl dashpad
and underneath on the right side is a body-color steel dash
containing an ashtray and a glovebox. Take a look overhead to find
a tight black vinyl headliner. Around the back in the trunk is a
vinyl mat, a set of carpeted logo floormats, a large folder of
receipts, and the relocated battery.
