Regarding visually intimidating on-road presence, almost no vehicle
can match the second-generation Dodge Viper. The exception to that
rule is, of course, a modified Viper. That is why we're so excited
to present you with this 1998 Dodge Viper RT-10. With its accessory
hard top on or off, thanks to a full Metallic Charcoal repaint,
power-coated Forgeline three-piece wheels, custom front auxiliary
fog lights, upgraded rear valance, and GTS-style decklid spoiler,
this Viper packs a venomous look unlike any other.
Aside from the beautiful black leather interior featuring carbon
fiber accents, the most exciting detail you'll notice from behind
the wheel is an odometer set against a set of white-faced gauges
that reads 42,603 actual miles. Though the earlier sedcond-gen
Vipers lacked almost any amenities, this '98 version does come with
power windows, mirrors, and air conditioning. An upgraded
AM/FM/CD/DVD/Satellite/Bluetooth Pioneer head unit offers just
about every kind of audio and visual entertainment anyone could
want if, for some reason, the sound and look of this car is not
enough.
Under the signature front-hinged hood, we find a monstrous
8.0-liter overhead-valve Viper V-10 that has been rebuilt by Arrow
Racing. With just 24,000 miles on it since its rebuild, this motor
gets a set of long tube headers and a muffler-less custom dual
exhaust system that announces this car's intentions from miles
away. Power from that big block is sent through a six-speed manual
transmission, upgraded to a Gen 3 unit capable of handling even
more power than its predecessor. While the front 275/35ZR-18
Michelin Pilot Sport tires are wide enough to be most sports cars'
rear tires, the Viper gets a steam-roller-sized 335/30ZR-18 meats
out back, proof that this car can walk the walk.
This 1998 Dodge Viper RT/10 rides on an upgraded suspension
featuring Penske double-adjustable shocks and Hypercoil springs,
which makes it look ready to strike from any angle. Power steering
and four-wheel power disc brakes add more civility to this
neo-Cobra than the car it is based upon.
