Description:
This 1961 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan was modified in the style of an
NHRA Stock Eliminator drag car. It is powered by a 390ci V8 that
sends power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission
and a Ford 9? rear end with a limited-slip differential. The car is
finished in Chesapeake Blue over blue vinyl, and additional
features include a raised front ride height, rear traction bars,
front and rear sway bars, 15? wheels, a Hurst shifter, and a
side-exit exhaust system.
Interior:
The two rows of bench seats are trimmed in blue vinyl with dark
blue cloth inserts. Matching vinyl trim extends to the door panels,
and additional features include a Hurst shifter, front lap belts, a
cabin heater, quarter vent windows, and a modified accelerator
pedal. The three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring
and frames an instrument panel hosting a horizontal 120-mph
speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. An
8k-rpm tachometer is mounted to the steering column and a secondary
fuel pump switch and auxiliary coolant temperature and oil pressure
gauges are mounted to the underside of the dashboard.
Exterior:
The body wears #209 decals on the doors, and additional features
include chrome bumpers and trim, quad headlights, dual side
mirrors, tail fins, 390 badging, and dual exhaust outlets exiting
ahead of the rear wheels. A battery cut-off switch has been added
at the rear. Gray-finished 15? American Racing Torq Thrust wheels
are mounted with 6.70-15 Coker American Classic tires up front,
while 15? chrome-plated steel wheels are mounted with 275/60 Nitto
NT555R Extreme Drag tires out back.
Drivetrain:
The 390ci V8 features a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock
intake manifold and water pump, MSD electronic ignition components,
and a chrome air cleaner and valve covers. Power is routed to the
rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9?
rear end with a limited-slip differential.
