Vehicle Description
1953 Oldsmobile 98 "Custom": A Family's Dream Realized
For 27 years, this unique 1953 Oldsmobile 98 "Custom" has been a
treasured masterpiece in our seller's family. Purchased in 1997,
this classic Oldsmobile became a canvas for a family vision that
took three years of dedicated work and collaboration. With Dave at
the helm, his son, and a group of talented friends transformed this
'53 Olds 98 into a show-stopping custom "convertible" hardtop-a
"dream come true" in every sense.
The result? A stunning blend of classic 1950s design with a
thoughtfully executed customization, capturing the essence of
Oldsmobile's luxury and elegance while adding a distinctive twist.
This custom Oldsmobile boasts both the vintage allure of the iconic
'53 Olds 98 and the personal touches that make it truly one of a
kind. Built with craftsmanship and passion, this vehicle is ready
to turn heads at car shows, parades, and gatherings, standing as a
testament to family dedication and the art of custom car
building.
Highlights of the build include: Chevrolet 350 CID with a mild
build; 350 Turbo Hydramatic Transmission; Narrowed 9" Ford Rear
End; 1973 Nova Front Suspension; Lowered 5"; Power Disc Brakes;
Power Steering; Power Seats; Power Door Locks; Power Trunk; Tilt
Steering Wheel; 1955 Pontiac Rear Bumper; Shaved Hood, Deck, Door
Handles; PPG Black Sapphire Paint; Hidden Automatic Antenna; 1993
Cadillac Leather Seats; Custom "Convertible" Top with Mercedes
"Hartz" Cloth; Custom Console; AM/FM Radio and CD; Air
Conditioning. Mileage on the odometer is less than 39,900 (noted as
"original") by the seller.
From the eye-catching black sapphire paint to the custom interior
details, this Oldsmobile 98 combines vintage style with modern
enhancements, making it a truly unique ride ready for both the show
circuit and the open road.
As noted above, after 3 years of work, the completed vehicle was
ready for the road in 2000. So after 24 years of cruising and show
events we have noted flaws to be expected with age, and even with
careful, limited fair weather use upon close inspection. Overall,
the condition is still very impressive and you'll be proud to
cruise and enjoy the local (and long distance) shows! If you have
read this far in the description, I know you love this style and
era of a custom build. I also know you'll appreciate the time AND
money you'll save by having this one in your garage and being able
to simply "turn the key" and enjoy it the day it becomes yours!
