Description:
This 1989 Pontiac Firebird Turbo Trans Am is one of 1,555 20th
Anniversary Pace Car examples produced and is powered by a
turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 that has been modified with 30-lb/hr fuel
injectors and an aftermarket chip. It is finished in white over
Camel leather, and power is sent to the rear wheels via a
four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
Equipment includes removable T-top panels, the WS6 Special
Performance Package, the Aero Package, a Y99 Rally Tuned
Suspension, 16? gold-finished aluminum wheels, four-wheel disc
brakes, a rear spoiler, power windows, power locks, air
conditioning, cruise control, and front bucket seats.
Interior:
The cabin features front bucket seats and individual rear seats
trimmed in Camel leather, and amenities include power windows,
power locks, air conditioning, cruise control, a cassette stereo,
and a rear window defogger. The leather-wrapped steering wheel
frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for voltage,
fuel level, oil pressure, boost pressure, and coolant temperature.
The six-digit odometer shows 13k miles.
Exterior:
The car is finished in white (40) and features the Aero Package,
which added revised front and rear fascias and side skirts.
Additional equipment includes 20th Anniversary badging,
Indianapolis Pace Car graphics, removable T-top roof panels, a rear
spoiler, body-color side mirrors, quad exhaust outlets, and pop-up
headlights. The 16? gold-finished diamond-spoke aluminum wheels are
mounted with 245/50 BFGoodrich tires. Braking is provided by
power-assisted discs at each corner.
Drivetrain:
The turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 was shared with the contemporary
Buick GNX and has been fitted with 30-lb/hr fuel injectors and an
aftermarket chip. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a
four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The transmission has been equipped with a high-capacity cooling
system.
