Vehicle Description
1997 Chevrolet K3500 4X4 Crew Cab Long Bed Pickup
A custom dually truck is a heavy duty pickup truck with dual rear
wheels. These trucks are often used for hauling and towing heavy
loads. Custom dually trucks have a long history dating back to the
1930s, when they were first introduced as a commercial vehicle
option. At the time, they were primarily used by farmers and
ranchers who needed a vehicle that could handle heavy loads and
rough terrain. During the 1950's and 1960's, custom dually trucks
began to gain popularity as a personal vehicle, as well. As the
American economy boomed, more people could afford to purchase
larger, more powerful vehicles, and the custom dually truck became
a symbol of wealth and status. In the 1970's and 1980's, custom
dually trucks continued to evolve. Improvements in technology and
design led to more powerful engines, better fuel efficiency, and
more comfortable cabins. Additionally, increased safety regulations
led to more advanced braking and suspension systems, making dually
trucks safer to drive. Today, custom dually trucksare popular with a
wide range of consumers, including farmers and ranchers,
construction workers, and recreational enthusiasts. They are
available in a wide range of styles and configurations, and they
can be customized to suit the needs of any driver. Due to their
size and power, custom dually trucksare often used for heavy duty
work such as towing large trailers, boats, and RVs. Also, the
popularity of these trucks surged again due to the trend of lifted
trucks, where people lift the suspension of a truck for offroading
or showing off. Thx to Duallyproz.com

and repairs during the January to June 2024 restoration, (see the
detailed list of work done in our photo section), and having

brand new 27 year old truck. Coming to our Hallowed Halls with a
rebuilt 454ci gasoline gulping V8, polished aluminum wheels, a
4-speed automatic transmission and cab top running lights, you can
actually feel like you are rolling in a big rig.

highways in your area.*
Exterior
A respray in satin black covers the long steel paneled protruding
fiberglass rear fenders of this crew cab truck. Panels are straight
and the paint presents well with a nice matte finish, but does have
some chips in the finish. A blacked out front bumper and bowtie
dressed grille looms behind an all front end encompassing brush
guard, (think zombie apocalypse). Outboard of this grille are
aerodynamic combination headlights and turn signals with new lenses
and a LED lighting upgrade. Moving rearward allows us to view
theadded cowl induction hood along with the LED cab top lighting.
The bed is green on the inside and shows use which is typically
what one would do with a truck. 16-inch 8 wheellugpolished hoops
are upfront, and on the rear are the dual reverse dish shiny 8
wheel nut dual accommodating wheels. These are framed above by a
large fender bump out which also serves to keep the bed at normal
dimension whilst covering the outboard wheels. Overall a nice
presentation for a big rig style hauler for the common man.
Interior
With all 4 doors swung open we see the factory gray cloth covers on
the front 70/30 split bench and the sprawling rear bench plays
matchy matchy perfectly. Between the front buckets is an oversized
storage console complete with cup holders for both front seat
passengers and the rear bench has its own foldable armrest as well.
The original dash and door panels show some little to no wear and
staining and are inoverall good condition. To the left of the gauge
cluster, we note the headlight switch and speaking of the
cluster,it has been fully rebuilt and LED lighting converted. To
the right is the factory AM/FM/Cassette/CD stereo and the heater/AC
dials. We note that the AC has been deleted. Like newgray carpeting
covers the floors down below areprotected by gray rubber mats. Up
high, covering the expansive roof is a tight gray cloth
headliner.
Drivetrain
A big 454ci V8 with electronic fuel injection and a custom tune has
been treated to the short block having been gone through during the
restoration and the cylinder heads are new. Actuating the valves is
a Comp Cams .510 lift camshaft along with Comp Cams springs,
lifters and valve seals. EFI feeds this mill and is controlled by a
2007 Silverado PCM. Bolted to the back is a 700R4 4-speed automatic
witha new trans mount and a deep trans pan. A semi floating 14
bolt4.10 rear axle is noted and more 4.10 gears occupy the front
differential. Our consignor notes that the EGR and EVAP systems
have been deleted.
Undercarriage
Slight surface rust but nothing remarkable. Mechanically and
structurally sound, independent torsion bar front suspension with a
slew of new components and leaf spring rear, this truck has been
used but cared for on the maintenance front. Power disc brakes
provide the stopping power on the front and in the back, we note
power drum brakes. Gibsonis responsible for the stainless steel
headers, catalytic converters and exhaust system as well as the
muffler and 6" tip on and provides a wonderful exhaust note while
it removes spent gasses.
Drive-Ability
Climbing in you are immediately struck with the height you are
riding at, and it gives you a sense of invincibility. This truck
started right up and has good power and smooth shifting for lots of
hauling. Seats are comfortable, and there is certainly plenty of
room for the passengers. It rides like a truck but then again what
did I expect? The only frown we noted was the AC not working, but
again, our consignor notes that it was deleted, otherwise, all else
was functioning swimmingly. While Classic Auto Mall represents that
these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we
cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of
your purchase.
A life use followed by an amazing mechanical restoration of a
dually, crew cab, nearly the largest pickup one could have. Bathed
in nice satin black paint, and in great condition overall.
