First model year 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata, fully loaded, garaged and driven in NC most of its life. This unmodified beauty was early off the line in July 1989, and comes with treasured windowsticker, paperwork, title, Owner's Manual, maintenance records, and yearly inspections. The rare Mariner Blue paint still looks fantastic, with no rust. Mechanically, it sounds, shifts, and handles great. Random strangers STILL stop, look, compliment, and covet this car - even after 35 years and a modest average of 3500 miles per year.
Standard OEM DOHC 16 valve 1.6L Inline 4 Cylinder Engine, 5 Speed Manual Transmission, rear wheel drive, driver side air-bag, and trunk compartment with small spare tire. The standard black cloth interior and original Miata logo floor mats are still in great shape. It comes with all available options including the top trim "B Package" with leather wrapped steering wheel, headrest speakers, 14" aluminum alloy wheels, power steering, power windows, cruise control, air conditioning, and a limited slip differential which hugs the road and provides an enhanced driving experience. The easy to fold down manual black convertible cloth top has been replaced. It is tight, has a clear window, and looks great - with only small stress marks visible on the sides where the frame meets the cloth.
Alterations include a passenger-side fold-up cup holder, an Alpine anti-theft AM/FM radio (single CD player not functional), a protective internal trunk wall shield, a like-new Tonneau cover for a smooth look and protection of the folded soft top, and a custom-fit full car cover for protection while parked and garaged. Note: the pop-up headlights do not go down and may need wires replaced - but all lights work fine. It also has a Viper motion-sensing siren alarm with warning beeps, override switch, blinking LED, and 2 remotes - although the controls are a bit worn. Body panels and bumpers are lightweight, and some were replaced after low-speed minor accidents in 1989 (a truly unbelievable story), 1998, and 2003. All repairs were done with new OEM parts. You will get a Rebuilt title because in 2003 the auto insurance company believed the value of this 13-year-old car was under $2000. They called it totaled because it cost a bit more than that to replace the front bumper, quarter panel, right door which barely buckled, and repaint the whole car. No problems in the 21 years since then.
