Vehicle Description
Charcoal Gray, black stripes, black interior, 396 cubes under the
hood... do you really need to read any further? Some combinations
are so timeless that you can picture them in your sleep, and
Chevelles like the clean '70 SS Tribute you see here is one of
them. It's got the right stance, the right wheels and the right
rumble, too!
Outside, this nasty Chevy is coated with a quality paint job
accented by twin black stripes that add a menacing look that few
muscle cars can pull off, and the Chevelle totally nails it. It's
got some signs of minor use here and there, but nobody's going to
nit-pick this machine after it rumbles onto the show field, because
it's got 'The Look'. Charcoal Gray works rather well with the
aggressive stance and oversized rolling stock to give it a sleek,
almost hi-tech look, aided by the cowl induction hood up front that
sets the tone. The usual blacked out grille and SS badge up front
are pure intimidation in other cars' rear view mirrors, and the big
chrome bumper and the rest of the shiny bits on this car look
great. This is a Chevelle to be proud of.
Inside, the optional bucket seats and center console are a ton
sportier than the standard bench most of these cars have. There are
fresh seat covers that replicate the originals and the dash pad,
headliner, and door panels are in excellent condition as well. The
carpets are plush and fully insulate the cabin, and the rear seat
looks barely used. Full SS-style instrumentation is in front of
you, although the original gauges have been upgraded to
analog-digital units that are much more accurate, and an
aftermarket retro-style AM/FM stereo radio manages the tunes.
You'll see the factory heater controls are gone in favor of a
Vintage A/C system that's blowing hard and cold today. And you
already know how much we like GM's horseshoe shifter for these
cars, installed neatly inside the factory middle console that
splits the seats. In back, the trunk is very neatly finished with
correct spatter paint and a full-size spare, giving it an honest,
correct look that's very welcome here.
Under the hood is the thumping 396 engine, well dressed and running
great. A blacked-out air cleaner is in place along with a matching
set of black Chevrolet valve covers, which are a big part of this
Chevy's performance look. A Holley 4-barrel carburetor on an
Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and an HEI ignition system
probably add a few horsepower, as do the ceramic-coated long-tube
headers. Key it up and there's the familiar thunder of GM big
block, which is a big part of the intimidation factor, suggesting
this car is ready to rumble. Underneath this car, though, you'll
find more performance including a quick-shifting TH400 3-speed
automatic transmission and a durable, heavy-duty 12-bolt rear end,
plus an upgraded suspension that gives it that awesome stance.
Beautiful American Racing Torque Thrust chrome wheels looks
fantastic tucked into the fenders, and the low-profile 245/40/18
front and 285/40/18 rear Nitto rubber does wonders for the A-body's
handling abilities.
This Chevelle is completely sorted and turn key and comes with a
clear California title, and it is smog exempt.
