Vehicle Description
2018 Dodge Ram 3500 Tradesman Crew Cab 4x4 Short Bed Pickup
Changes to the Ram for 2018 included the addition of HD Radio to
all Uconnect 8.4 infotainment systems, as well as a new 4G LTE
wireless hotspot provided by AT&T Wireless, an AT&T
Wireless 4G LTE in vehicle modem, (both the AT&T Wireless 4G
LTE modem and 4G LTE mobile hotspot replace the Sprint 3G CDMA
modem and 3G CDMA mobile hotspot offered on previous Ram models),
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration for the
Uconnect 8.4 infotainment systems, and the SiriusXM Guardian
service replacing the Uconnect ACCESS service offered on previous
RAM models for the Uconnect 8.4 infotainment systems. In addition,
all Uconnect 8.4 infotainment systems get a new user interface
design for easier navigation of menus and applications. The VM
Motori-produced 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 turbo diesel engine returned in
early 2018 for the RAM 1500, as it has been recertified by the EPA
after allegations of emissions cheating in 2017. Most upper trim
levels of the RAM 1500, (Sport, Rebel, Laramie Longhorn, and
Limited), get the new RAM front grille introduced for 2016, as well
as a large 'RAM' emblem on the rear tailgate. Lower to mid-trim
levels of the RAM 1500, (Tradesman, Express, Big Horn, Lone Star,
and Laramie), retain the standard RAM "Crosshair" front grille.
For consignment, a 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 Tradesman crew cab 4x4 with
a 6.4 liter Hemi and a title verified 9,160 actual miles. It's got
the crosshair grille, the Snow Chief group, Chrome Appearance
Group, and the Popular Equipment group along with some nice chrome
wheels. If you're looking to tow your show car or race car, this
seems like the perfect antidote.
Exterior
Two stage Delmonico Red Pearl Coat paint shines brightly on this
big truck surrounding the chrome laden crossbars of the enormous
grille. A chrome bumper is a remnant of the trucks of yore, and
this one shows with a Wile E. Coyote sticker over a prominent dent.
The big rig style hood with an added charcoal colored scoop is
flanked by wide fenders for an aggressive look. Chrome step up bars
allow easier access to the 4 door of the high cab which is backed
by a short bed with its spray in textured bed liner. Some chrome
dressed up the slab steel sides in the form of callout emblems and
black door handles and mirrors give this hauler just the right
"look". Out back is the chrome Ram dressed tailgate and chrome rear
bumper which presents a handsome design and includes a tow hitch
and electrical port. Chrome clad 18-inch multi spoke wheels also
look aggressive and carry 70 series tires. The only imperfection we
could find was the aforementioned dent in the front bumper.
Interior
Molded plastic black door panels contain a number of storage bins
and plastic hardware and a speaker. Diesel Gray cloth covers the
front buckets with a large armrest/storage bin that doubles as a
third seat back when retracted. The driver's seat has multiple
manual adjustments, and all surfaces are in great condition save
for a few small cigaretteburns in the upholstery. Behind the
buckets is a foldingbench providing room for 3 and there are also
numerous hooks on the back wall for storage usage. Back up front we
have an appropriately robust steering wheel with thumb controls in
front of a black faced gauge package on a white background while
the center stack is an integrated arrangement of A/C controls and
an AM/FM/Bluetooth/U-Connect/XM capable stereo, an integral brake
controller, and various auxiliary lights and traction control
modes. Textured black plastic makes up the rest of the dash. The
low pile carpet and soft headliner are in excellent condition with
all weather floor mats on each side covering the factory
carpet.
Drivetrain
Under the hood we find the clean driver quality 6.4 liter Hemi V8
producing 410hp thanks to precise EFI fuel delivery. A 66RFE
6-speed automatic transmission is bolted to the back and via the
transfer case, sends power to the front and rear axle, both with
3.73 gears. Factory installed exhaust is on and power disc brakes
are employed to halt the hemi.
Undercarriage
As expected with the low miles, we find a very clean environment
underneath. There's some surface rust on the exhaust and untreated
components, but that's pretty typical. Radius arm and coil spring
suspension is used up front and leaf springs are employed in the
back.
Drive-Ability
We hoist ourselves up into the cabin for a king of the road
feeling, high and mighty indeed! The Hemi sparks into action via
its fuel injection and bubbles out the single exhaust pipe. We roll
onto the test loop and find very good acceleration, great braking,
and from these altitudes, awesome visibility. As we guessed, every
function in the truck works as it should. While Classic Auto Mall
represents that these functions were working at the time of our
test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at
the time of your purchase.
With the new and used truck market still soaring high, why not
consider this "few years old" model with great great options and
low low miles. More importantly, you have the 6.4 liter Hemi, 4x4
capability, and a tow hitch that creates a versatile work truck
that would make a very comfortable four season daily driver as
well.
