By 1988, after eighteen years of production, Mercedes-Benz elected to replace the timeless R107-generation SL-Class with a completely new model. Christened the R129, the new SL was a technological triumph, featuring dramatically improved safety, performance, and, of course, comfort over its predecessor. Initially available with an Inline-6 and V8, the R129 received a 6.0L variant of the M120 V12 for 1993. The de-facto flagship of the model and a halo car for the entire brand, the 600SL (rebadged as the SL 600 for the 1994 model year) offered supreme luxury with effortless performance.
Much like prior SLs, the new car quickly earned its way into the garages of wealthy enthusiasts, celebrities, and royalty. Today, the R129 is well known for its incredible build quality thanks to Mercedes' predilection for building cars to a standard, not a price at the time of its design. While later cars have, of course, surpassed it in performance, many consider R129s to be some of the finest SLs ever built, especially when equipped with a V12.
The sensational 1994 Mercedes-Benz SL 600 Roadster featured here is finished in a gorgeous Imperial Red (582) over an impeccably kept Palomino (274A) leather interior with a Dark Brown power convertible top and a body-color removable hardtop. SL 600s received nearly every conceivable option as standard and offer an incredible driving experience few cars can match. This meticulously maintained Mercedes-Benz has been driven a mere 11,435 miles from new and represents an incredible opportunity for the most discerning collector, investor, or enthusiast to acquire an investment-grade 1994 Mercedes-Benz SL 600 at an investment price!
