Chicago Car Club is excited to offer one of our private collection
vehicles for sale-this stunning 1963 Corvette Split Window.
We acquired this car in 2006 directly from the original owner and
his wife. Ordered new in 1963, it spent its entire life on the
shores of Lake Michigan before becoming part of our collection.
When it arrived, the car was in remarkable, untouched
condition-truly a "survivor." Photos taken the day we picked it up
in 2006 show just how well-preserved the car was. We have full
documentation, including extensive service records, original
owner's materials, photographs, and receipts from our restoration
work. This is a factory Sebring Silver car, equipped with the
original 250 HP engine and fully matching numbers throughout.
Exterior: The car arrived in its original Sebring Silver paint and
interior, displaying plenty of character from the years but still
perfectly straight. We began a frame-off restoration in 2006,
completing the process in-house. The car was refinished in Standox
base coat clear coat, and the body and paint are now as close to
flawless as you can find. Every detail-trim, bumpers, hardware, and
glass-is in top-notch condition with no chips, scratches, or
peeling. It's a top-tier restoration, maintaining the integrity of
the original hardware and engine components wherever possible. We
took care to properly prep and paint the jambs and hardware,
including hinges, to match the quality of the bodywork. The
exterior is immaculate, with clear, fully functional lights,
including the headlight mechanisms. The original late-production
fuel door is in excellent shape, and the original wheels and caps
are mounted on Coker tires.
Interior:
Inside, the car is nearly flawless, showcasing many of its
original, well-preserved components. The original gauges are in
excellent condition, displaying just the right amount of patina.
The dashboard is perfect, with impeccable trim and bezels. The
carpet kit was replaced and fits beautifully. All switches, trim,
and moldings are near-perfect. The headliner is taut and correctly
installed. The original jack is in its intended location, and the
AM/FM radio remains functional. While the original clock isn't
operable, it's still a beautiful feature. All levers, latches, and
movable hardware operate as if new. This restoration was a labor of
love, completed carefully over the course of 18 months.
Underhood / Underbody:
This car is entirely numbers-matching, with every part in place as
it should be. The original 250 HP engine setup has been preserved
from the distributor and carburetor to the block and heads. Every
nut, bolt, and piece of hardware has been meticulously attended to.
We used OEM hoses, cables, and hardware wherever possible to
maintain originality. The underside shows new bushings and seals,
as it was thoroughly gone through during the restoration. The
original transmission was fully refreshed and is also
numbers-matching. We opted to paint the underside of the tub in
semi-gloss Standox black, a personal preference for a clean,
durable finish. All clamps, retainers, and hardware are correct to
factory specs, and the entire original braking system was rebuilt
to its original form.
On the Road:
This car has been kept in a secure location but remains an
excellent runner and driver. It starts easily, even in cold
conditions, and runs perfectly. We've kept the fuel system clean,
using VP Leaded Fuel for optimal performance and safe storage. It
drives exactly as you would expect from a thoroughly restored
C2-well-aligned, with no pulling, and tracks straight under
acceleration. The braking system is precise, offering excellent
stopping power, while the suspension remains tight and quiet. The
driving experience in this Split Window is second to none, offering
a level of engagement and satisfaction that's hard to match in any
other car.
