Description:
This 1987 Buick Grand National is powered by a turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 that is modified with an aftermarket turbocharger, intercooler, intake manifold, cylinder heads, fueling components, standalone engine management, and an alcohol injection system. Refinished in black over replacement black and Sand Gray cloth upholstery, the car also has a limited-slip differential, air conditioning, a CD stereo with a graphic equalizer, and staggered-diameter GNX-style wheels.
Interior:
The front bucket seats and rear bench are reupholstered in black and Sand Gray cloth, and the cabin has air conditioning in addition to a period-style CD stereo with a graphic equalizer. Missing sunvisors are noted, and the right window has broken guides. A refurbished leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts the instrument cluster, and gauges for oil pressure and fuel pressure are mounted centrally. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles and is said to have rolled over once. The check-engine light is lit, and the factory tachometer and boost gauge are not working.
Exterior:
Exterior details include a sculpted hood, tinted windows, rolled fenders, sport mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, and a decklid spoiler. Areas of wear and blistering are noted in the paint along with other flaws. The 18? and 19? wheels are mounted with 245/45 front and 275/40 rear Nitto NT555 G2 tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
Drivetrain:
The turbocharged and intercooled 3.8-liter V6 has a blanketed turbocharger, a Precision intercooler, a Champion Racing intake manifold and cylinder heads, aftermarket fuel system components, standalone engine management, and an Alkycontrol alcohol injection system according to the selling dealer, who reports the build requires additional tuning in order to address the wastegate opening early. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission with a finned Hughes Performance pan, and the car was equipped at the factory with a limited-slip differential. A 3? downpipe feeds the exhaust system, which has Hooker mufflers.
