1965 Ford Mustang Convertible
The current owner feels he's the third owner of this car.
The first owner selling the car to the second owner almost 40 years ago. The second owner owned an autobody shop and his plan was to fully restore the car, but, as life would have it, the car was parked up on a storage lift and that's where she sat for well over 20 years, until the current owner came upon her. The engine had already been rebuilt by the second owner, so he just went through the car, little by little, having the car painted in Caspian Blue Iridescent (which is so dark in some light it looks black, but in other light, at the right angle, has a dark teal green hue), he did the interior and was doing lots of little bits, like door handles, switches, hubcaps, trim pieces, the white top was recoated, all the underhood bits like the carb, fuel filters, the washer bag, air cleaner, coil, etc. are all new. The transmission was serviced when things were going back together, so the 3 speed floor mounted shifter is tight and clicks into each gear without issue. While not a powerhouse by any means, the 200 CI inline 6 cyclinder is easily enough to move this sunny day cruiser along at any speed limit. While the brakes are all drum, the owner wanted them to grab better than stock so he had a power booster installed and now they grab instantly, it takes a little getting used to but after 5 minutes behind the wheel, you are.
The car was built at the Dearborn, MI plant and was delivered to a dealership in Philadelphia, painted in Raven Black over a Plamino interior, the current owner bought the car in NJ and it is believed the first owner was also from Jersey.
As mentioned, this Pony now wears Caspian Blue Iridescent over a black interior, with a white top.
She is totally rust free and although the paint has a few imperfections here and there, she gets thumbs up and great comments wherever you take her.
She is super reliable; starts right up with two touches of the gas pedal and settles very quickly into a smooth burbling idle. Once warmed up, she accelerates smoothly, and drives very nicely, which is what the current owner bought her do, but unfortunately, he just hasn't used her the way he wanted and has decided it's time to move her on to someone who will.
Aside from the power brakes, the other power amenity is the top, pull the levers, and press the switch off to the left of the wheel and down she goes, pull it, and up she goes.
Everything else works as it should and in a car like this there isn't much else - wipers, lights (high and low beams), blinkers and horn. There are 78,700 miles on the odometer, less than a 1000 miles since being rebuilt.
The radio is a modern unit designed to look like a stock AM but has AM/FM and auxiliary hook ups for your phone.
If there is anything she'd benefit from it would be a color sand and buff.
She is tun key and ready to go.
Drop the top and let the sun shine on you as you cruise the shoreline or countryside.
With all that is new and in exceptional condition on this car, the asking price is $26,800.
