Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is excited to present to you today this 1975
Oldsmobile Cutlass S. This Oldsmobile really stands apart from the
crowd not just because it is a survivor with only 17,126 actual
miles, but also because it is equipped with the optional Y76
package. The Y76 package was an appearance package that was labeled
with regional marketing names and badging - in this case the car
was originally sold at Royal Oldsmobile in Charleston West Virginia
and in that region it was the "Olds DYMO". Only 26% (11,202) of
Cutlass S coupes were equipped with this package that consists of
chrome sports mirrors, argent-colored Superstock wheels, white body
accent stripes, modified roof with vinyl Landau top and opera
windows, Cutlass Supreme taillamps, a Cutlass Salon steering wheel,
and of course, the unique regional badging. This particular
Oldsmobile has been the recipient of quite a bit of maintenance and
upgrades in the last year including a new quadrajet carburetor
(original carb comes with the car), new valve cover gaskets,
transmission shaft seal, brake master cylinder, air shocks,
windshield washer pump, and a new set of tires. Let's dig a little
deeper into this incredible low-mileage survivor....
This beautiful Cutlass comes to us dressed in its original Canyon
Copper paint, still in very good driver condition. The unmistakable
front end features a chrome hood spine, a vertical Oldsmobile
ornament standing just ahead of the hood, a split vertical bar
grille framed with bright trim, headlights in bright bezels, and a
chrome bumper with black rub strip. Brightwork continues as you
move around the side of the car to find wheel lip molding, bright
window trim, body side molding, rocker molding, door edge guards,
and dual chrome side mirrors. Hideaway wipers add a nice touch, as
do the color-keyed insets on the door handles. Both fenders wear
"Olds DYMO" badging where "Cutlass" badges would normally reside.
White pinstripes add an accent to the upper body lines and the
Landau top. The white vinyl top is in good condition and it really
sets off the rear opera windows. There are a couple of small areas
on the drivers side of the car, just below the bright trim that
frames the vinyl top, where the paint has begun to bubble. There
are also several areas that you can feel some bubbling under the
vinyl. The rear of the car features a sloping fast-back look with
prominent vertical taillights framed in bright trim. Three bright
badges grace the lip of the trunk - "Royal" (the dealership it was
originally sold at), "Oldsmobile" script, and another "Olds DYMO"
like the ones on the fenders. Under the trunklid is a bright band
with a centered gas fill door and another gleaming chrome bumper.
Completing the look of this stylish Cutlass are a set of the
aforementioned argent-colored Superstock wheels with beauty rings
all wrapped in newer Nexen tires.
Lift the hood to reveal a very tidy stock engine bay that's home to
a 350ci "Rocket" V-8 that was factory-rated at 170hp. It is topped
with a stock intake, a new 4-barrel Quadrajet carburetor, and an
OEM black air cleaner with "Oldsmobile Rocket 350" decal. The V-8
is mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that delivers
power via a 10-bolt rear end with 2.56 gears. Exhaust flows from
cast manifolds through a newer muffler and exits at the passenger
rear. Stopping power comes courtesy of power front disc and rear
drum brakes. Also of note under the hood is factory power steering
and a factory A/C system (all present and hooked up, but currently
inop.)
Open the driver's door and take a step back in time to 1975! The
working courtesy light pops on immediately to illuminate an
exceptionally well-kept original interior done in Saddle and White.
The long white door panels look great and feature armrests, rear
ashtrays, pull-straps, "S" badges, a drivers side mirror toggle,
and tan carpeted bottoms. A beautiful white vinyl bench seat
welcomes you in for a comfortable ride. Both the front and rear
seats show almost no wear and look like new. Seatbelts for 3
passengers are available in both front and back. Ahead is a
crack-free Saddle dash that is accented with woodgrain surrounds
for the lights/wiper controls and the stereo/climate controls.
Ahead of the driver are 2 round gauges, a speedometer and odometer
to the left and a fuel gauge with system warning lights to the
right. The climate control system puts out hot heat with a strong
fan but as previously mentioned, the A/C is currently inop. The
Delco Am/FM/8-track push-button stereo appears original and sounds
good as it plays your favorite tunes through 2 speakers in the dash
and 2 on the rear package tray. The passenger-side of the dash is
home to a glovebox that contains an original owners manual. The
driver is treated to stitched vinyl Cutlass Salon steering wheel
with a working horn on a fixed column that also offers a
column-shifter. Overhead is a tight white vinyl headliner and
under-foot is plush brown nylon carpet with rubber GM floormats.
Back in the trunk you'll find a felt mat, a set of carpeted
floormats, a full spare with a vinyl cover, and a factory jack.
This Cutlass also comes with a letter from the brother of the
original owner who inherited the car in 2010, a copy of the
original window sticker, an original sales brochure, and receipts
for most of the work on the car since 2020.
The Oldsmobile Cutlass was the most popular car in America in 1975
and this impressive example is a testament to why! Great looks, a
bullet-proof drivetrain, comfortable interior, and a luxuriously
smooth ride make this Olds a pleasure to own and drive. Making this
car all the cooler is the rare option package and the fact that it
has only 17,126 actual miles! Chances to find such a well-kept,
low-mileage survivor Cutlass are rare - so don't let the
opportunity to own this beauty pass you by and wind up regretting
it! Give our friendly staff a call today!
