Cruisin Classics is proud to present this 1953 Chevrolet 3100
5-window truck to you. This Advance Design series truck comes to us
dressed in a coat of eye-catching Metallic Orange paint in very
good driver quality condition - not without small imperfections,
but stunning to look at. Up front is a large bulbous hood with a
bright center spine that flows from the split windshield down to a
colorful Chevrolet badge at the front lip. Beneath the hood is the
iconic grille comprising 5 mirror-finish chrome horizontal slats
with turn signal indicators between the top two. The grille is
flanked by round headlights in bright bezels mounted on the
fenders. Under the grille is a body-color bumper with integrated
round fog lights placed near the center. The sides of the hood are
adorned with "Chevrolet Thriftmaster" badges, though these badges
ceased in late 1949 and were replaced with "3100" badges. A thin
black accent stripe flows around the upper cab's body line and ties
in with the black windshield and window seals. The door windows
feature chrome trim and the doors are also home to chrome side
mirrors and door handles. Beneath the doors are solid running
boards that extend back to the rear fender. The bed looks fantastic
with rolled angled bed rails, nicely figured polished wood, and
bright bed strips. There is a gas fill on the floor as the gas tank
has been relocated underneath the bed. Black "CHEVROLET" lettering
on the tailgate, another painted bumper, and dual taillights
attached to the sides of the bed all combine to make for a
great-looking view from the rear. This Chevy sits atop a set of
polished aluminum American Racing Torque Thrust wheels wrapped in
black-wall BF Goodrich tires - a perfect complement to the look of
this vintage truck! This truck is equipped with an Air Ride system
with dual AirMaxx 480 pumps - offering you the ability to customize
the stance and appearance to your liking.
Under the bulging hood is an exceptionally clean and tidy engine
bay that you'd be proud to display at any car show or event. At the
heart is a GM RamJet 350ci V-8 crate engine topped off with cast
heads, polished aluminum valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold,
and a brand new Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4XT EFI system - an awesome
upgrade! Accompanying the fuel injection system are an in-tank EFI
fuel pump and Edelbrock computer-controlled ignition. Exhaust flows
through headers and a true dual exhaust before exiting under the
running boards just ahead of the rear fenders with a pleasing
rumble. The Chevy V-8 is mated to a GM 700 R4 4-speed automatic
overdrive transmission that sends power to the rear via a 10-bolt
rear axle with 2.73:1 gears - a perfect combination for both city
driving and freeway cruising. Other highlights under the hood
include power steering, an aluminum radiator with an electric fan
and chrome overflow, and a new-looking Vintage Air system. Stopping
power comes courtesy of power 4-wheel disc brakes with a dual
reservoir.
When you open the driver's door you're going to be amazed by the
jaw-droppingly nice interior! The star of the show is the beautiful
contoured brown and tan bench seat that just begs you to hop inside
and go for a drive. It sure looks like distressed leather, but
vinyl technology has gotten so good these days that we can't be
sure which it is. The two-tone seat features white stitching and a
separate seat-back. The stylish door panels are composed of the
same two-tone materials as the seats and both have armrests and
power window switches. Underfoot is a nice-quality brown carpet and
overhead is a headliner made of the same dark brown material that
covers the seats. The dash is painted in a tan color that closely
matches that of the seat and it combines some original features and
a few modern upgrades. Dual round analog/digital Dakota Digital
gauges offer not only temp, oil, fuel, volts, tach, and speedometer
but also 0-60 times, quarter mile times, trip odometer, and much
more. To the right of the gauges in the center of the dash are
original chrome accent pieces with a "Chevrolet" logo that frame a
JVC AM/FM/CD stereo surrounded by a border of the brown seat
material - a very cool look! Ahead of the passenger is a ribbed
chrome glovebox door that adds some original flavor. Mounted
beneath the dash is a slim-line Vintage Air unit with 4 vents that
crank out ice-cold A/C and hot heat on demand with a strong fan.
Directly ahead of the driver is a very nice wood-rimmed banjo-wire
steering wheel on a chrome tilt steering column with a column
shifter and correct shift indicator for the overdrive transmission.
The horn button works and the two-speed wipers operate as they
should too. Under the dash on the driver's side are controls for
the Air Ride system and compressor. Both front kick panels are in
good condition and feature circular speakers for the stereo. Behind
the seat, you'll find a kill switch on the floor of the passenger
side, a Blaupunkt 7502 amplifier mounted to the cab wall, and JVC
6X9 speakers on the cab cover. Also behind the seat is a box of
installation and operation manuals for all of the upgrades to the
truck - a nice unexpected extra!
