Like a magician, this car has got a few tricks up its sleeve!
Supercharged 350 V8! Overdrive transmission! Air conditioning!
Modern suspension! Meticulous body off frame restoration! Pay close
attention to the details here. This retro rod looks pretty stock at
a glance but dig deeper and discover it's a high quality custom hot
rod that is begging to be driven anywhere!
EXTERIOR: All steel body, fenders etc. This is an original 1940
Ford, not a reproduction. It is 100% laser beam straight and smooth
as glass. The paint was applied with expert detail the polished to
a highly reflective finish. All the panels fit wonderfully, and
their alignment is point on with gaps that are superb. The doors
close easily with minimal effort and retain their original style
handles. The cowl vent is still functional and opens easily with a
lever under the dash. All the trim looks fantastic, it is straight
and shiny. Custom headlight bezels have turn signals nicely built
in. The bumpers have a sharp gleaming reflection that rivals a
mirror. All the glass was replaced as well as the rubber seals. The
welting between the fenders was also replaced. The Chevron
taillights and Ford script tailpipes are gorgeous and original to
this style car. The front grille is elegant and beautiful. It has
the ideal stance and is sitting on a set of body color painted
steel rims with a polished lip and poverty style hubcaps that have
the V8 logo. They are wrapped in BFGoodrich Traction T/A Radial
tires.
INTERIOR: The door jambs are very nice and the weatherstrips were
replaced. It has fresh looking, original style door panels with
power windows switches hidden in the original style window cranks.
5.5" speakers were added to each door. The refinished dash has a/c
vents where the ashtrays would have been originally, and there is
one tucked behind the original speaker grille as well. Turn signals
were added to the steering column. It also has reproduction factory
looking gauges with a very nostalgic and beautiful font. With just
under 8,500 on the odometer this car is a proven driver. Faux wood
grain on the inside window trim was beautifully executed. A modern
stereo was also neatly incorporated, as well as original style
knobs to control the heater and air conditioning. A boost gauge and
mini tachometer are concealed in the glove box. The square loop
carpeting is the original style but was replaced and looks fresh.
The front bench seat was recovered in glove soft leather, as well
as the 2 rear fold down jump seats. Also, the rear walls are
covered in leather with 2 6x9 speakers built in. The headliner and
sun visors have also been recovered. The rearview mirror was
replaced. It does have the original style steering wheel, and one
more trick up it's sleeve. The original "3 on the tree" has been
modified to work with the 200R4 overdrive automatic transmission.
It also has its original style ignition with a key to lock out the
"on/off" switch plus a push button start.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine bay is very subtle looking with lots
of black parts, but it has a huge surprise. The 350 V8 engine is
topped off with a B&M Forced Induction supercharger! We rebuilt
the Holley dual feed carburetor with electric choke. It was also
upgraded with an HEI ignition and even the exhaust manifolds are
coated. Everything looks so fresh and clean. The original style
horns are just too cool. A fresh Walker radiator and big electronic
fan keeps everything cool. Speaking of cool, the builder also added
an a/c compressor on top of power steering and power brakes too.
All the hoses, belts and wires look fresh, and the remaining engine
bay metal was nicely painted body color.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The underside of the trunk lid and jamb were
neatly painted body color. Very nice square loop carpeting with a
rubber trunk mat covering the floor. The battery has been concealed
in an antique leather tool bag. That is just so cool, I've never
seen that before. It also is equipped with a spare tire.
UNDERSIDE: Hard to believe this car has 8,500 miles, the bottom
side looks like brand new. Up front has independent suspension,
coilover shocks, a swaybar, plus rack & pinion steering. Out back
it has fresh air shocks and fresh leaf springs. Every nut, bolt and
line were replaced. It has power disc front brakes, and the master
cylinder/booster is hidden underneath. The emergency brake is also
hooked up. It has dual exhaust with stainless steel mufflers
leading to period correct polished tips exiting under the rear
bumper. The gas tank was replaced, and it was upgraded with a
electronic external fuel pump. Looking up at the 350 V8 engine it
is nice and clean with no visible leaks. The 200R4 Overdrive
automatic transmission looks to have a fresh linkage and a deep pan
too. That transfers the power through a custom driveshaft into a
spotless ford 9" rear end. The body was off the frame for
restoration and the floors are rust free, neatly painted semi-gloss
black. The original frame is not even pitted, it was also prepped
and painted.
SERVICE: Our shop manager thoroughly inspected this car and we
rebuilt the carburetor, installed an electric choke, and replaced
the fuel pump.
