Vehicle Description
Generally speaking, while the first year of a new generation of
sports cars can be fun to own, it is the last year of each model
that tends to get all the goodies with the least amount of
problems. So, when a car like this 2004 Chevrolet Corvette
Commemorative Edition Convertible comes around with just 28,584
(believed) actual miles on the odometer, it should make you stop
and stare for a little while longer than you may have initially
planned. Painted in its original and gorgeous Luxo Blue Metallic
contrasted by its tan and beige top and interior, this low-slung
beauty celebrates the final year of the (then) revolutionary C5
generation of the Corvette.
Inside, we find all the amenities one could want in a modern sports
car: power windows, door lock, seats, and mirrors. There is an
AM/FM CD player stereo with a 12-cd changer mounted in the trunk.
Although it was the first Corvette ever designed as a convertible
first and then a coupe, Chevy still gave the C5 a manual folding
top. This not only allows for a simple execution for top-dropping
at a moment's notice but also helps the C5 maintain nearly perfect
weight distribution, even as a convertible. Also included is this
car's original $56,380 window sticker, which has been laminated for
posterity.
Under the hood we find the (believed) original nearly-bulletproof
5.7-liter aluminum block and heads LS1 V-8. When new, this potent
small block puts down 350 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque, funneling
through a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission before heading
out to the 3.15:1 geared rear end. A sweet-sounding Borla exhaust
has been added to give this American icon a slightly deeper growl
than its original tone.
