Vehicle Description
2000 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
In 1951 a group of Harley Earl's "Special Projects" crew began work
on a GM sports car. Bob McLean designed a general layout for the
car which was originally code named, "Opel". William Durant, the
founder of GM, said a wallpaper pattern he saw in a Paris hotel in
1908 inspired the bow tie logo. Supposedly, he ripped off a small
piece of it and brought it back to Detroit. Myron Scott, at the
time, Chevrolet's Chief photographer, is credited with coming up
with the Corvette name, drawing from the small, fast warships of
the "Corvette" class.
For consignment, a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette coupe that has a nifty
paint color, (Navy Blue), 73,478 non-verifiable miles and an
amazing back story to go along with the amazing paint work and
performance under the hood. Purchased by a former Philadelphia
Eagles football player as well as top level drag racer, this car is
capable of kicking ass not only on the show field, (its won over
100 trophies), but also tearing it up on the drag strip, where it
has gone a respectable 11.54 @ 117mph in the quarter mile. Adding
to the ownership prowess and killer drivetrain are the stunning
airbrushed graphics, flames, and C5-R add ons that draw your eyes
in multiple directions at once. The striking color combo C5
Corvette is the one of the many Corvettes we have in our vast
inventory here at the Classic Auto Mall and is a stand out among
stand outs.
Exterior
Navy Blue drapes the exterior of this car and presents in like
showroom condition and highlighting this deep dark sea of paint is
rearward licking light blue highlighted silver flames that emanate
from the soaring eagle on the pointed neoprene nose and race
rearward down the sultry and sexy contoured sides. A C5-R style
hood leads the way with tons of visual interest with louvers and a
cowl induction style raised rear section. Light blue/gray
highlights the louvers and more gray makes an appearance on the
cowl lettering with its chilly cold air call outs...brrr. Flanking
the leading edge of the hood are covered and fan cooled projector
headlights and a C5-R lower chin spoiler helps scoop the air up and
into the engine bay. Very crisp and and nearly blinding in the
summer sunlight with a virtual lack of any chrome save for the 4
highly polished wheels, and the cross flag on the nose, the custom
paint work quickly takes over as star of the show, at least on the
exterior. All gaps are well minded and it's hard to find any flaws
in the fiberglass/composite body. 18 and 20-inch Weld Evo wheels
sit on all four corners and are wrapped in 275/35/ZR18 and
315/30R20 like new rubber. Seen is a Navy Blue removable top for
some open air motoring, so one can enjoy the exhaust notes along
with the wonderful summer sunshine. Out back are the iconic
foursome of oval tail lights taking up their homes in the flat
faced silver rear bumper. We'd be embarrassed to omit the Trans Am
stylespoiler that is perched upon the rear hatch, and this works
perfectly with the C5-R style rocker cladding, all helping to bring
this custom aero package together.
Interior
Gray leather bolsters with blue static print leather, power
adjustable, high back buckets embroidered with the "Corvette" name
await you. Sliding in will put you into a cockpit with an AM/FM/CD
player, dual zone electronic heat and A/C, cruise control, power
locks and power windows. A bevy of white face gauges are in front
of the gray and black leather wrapped steering wheel and monitor
all engine functions. More custom touches abound throughout the
dash with metallic blue overlays and surrounds for the cluster and
dash central. Clean gray carpeting with navy blue Corvette
embroidered mats floods the floors and extends into the rear hatch
storage area. A sprinkling of black appears throughout the
interior, namely highlighting the console, dash and upper 2 thirds
of the door panels. These too have been bitten by the custom bug
and wear more metallic and static blue treatment. Just a
wonderfully eye-catching interior.
Drivetrain
The standard 5.7L LS1 fuel injected V8 is nestled under the forward
tipping hood but has been treated to a host of upgrades to create a
consignor stated 470hp. The bottom end of the engine has been left
stock, but the heads have been treated to new valve springs and a
change in rocker arm ratio. A VaraRam cold air intake with a
1,000cfm relocated mass air meter provides the atmosphere to the
mill and a LS6 intake manifold distributes things to the cylinders.
A reworked 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission with a 2,800rpm
stall converter and modified valve body sends power to a 4.10
limited slip geared rear axle and then to the tires via
hardenedoutput shafts. Our consignor notes that a new GM balancer,
new front seal, new knock sensors, new 4 and 6 rib belts have been
installed along with a fresh oil change and tune up was recently
performed. This engine bay could stand on its performance merit
alone, but more eagles, flames, chrome and a nod to the prior
Philadelphia Eagles owner make this bay just scream "look at me".
If that wasn't enough, more flames, a soaring eagle, lighting and
clouds have been airbrushed onto the hood underside. WOW....I'm
speechlesswith all this detail!
Undercarriage
Too low to traverse out lift, so it'll be just the facts ma'am.
Traction control and 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS and Baer
EradiSpeed rotors are noted. Independent SLA suspension with a
transverse monoleaf spring provides the ride for front and rear. LG
Motorsports Pro long tube headers feedspent fossils to the 3" high
flow cats before moving through an X-pipe and heading rearward to a
muffler delete tailpipe section that is custom in its own right
with extensions from a 1974 Corvette.
Drive-Ability
She fired right up and off to the test track we went. Here the car
provided great handling, good cruising and everything control wise
works swimmingly. We were lucky enough to have a dry Fall going on
in Pennsylvania for this test drive, so we sucked up the
opportunity and took the removable top out to really enjoy our
experience. All in all a wonderful drive with all functions working
as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
Overall, a very nice example of a 24 year old 'Vette, that has been
well cared for and customized to the moon. An eye-catching paint
job really makes this car pop along with its many options and its
high horsepower LS1 to get you motoring down the road. Snazzy
polished wheels really set this car off and with new belts and
seals this one is ready to take you anywhere your heart desires.
