American Racing Wheels History: The Chevelle family offered a
Malibu trim line until 1972. SS was the performance package; Malibu
was the top-end luxury group. For a brief moment in 1964 and 1965,
the ""Malibu SS"" nameplate existed. The Malibu SS was not a
performance package like the GTO, and it included no performance
upgrades. The Malibu SS only offered trim and appearance upgrades
over a Malibu, such as: bucket seats, Malibu SS specific trim and
emblems, a center console, clock, and a gauge package. These cars
all had Malibu SS or Malibu Super Sport nameplates on the car, just
like the one you see here.
