Vehicle Description
Very correct Mach 1 tribute. Real M-code 351 4V/4-speed car.
Original color combination. Beautiful older restoration still in
excellent condition. Runs strong. Marti Report included. A
fun-to-drive fastback Mustang with an awesome performance
look. There are not many who will argue that the 1969 Mustang
fastback isn't among the most desirable Mustangs of all time. All
the pieces came together perfectly?the headlights in the grille,
the scoops in the quarter panels, the blacked-out hood, all of it
makes the Mustang look fast even when it's standing still. The Mach
1 package was little more than an appearance group, so it was easy
to create this awesome Mach 1 tribute. Royal Maroon is this car's
original color, so would be gorgeous no matter what you did with
it, but adding the Mach 1 stripes, wing, and hood scoop take it to
another level altogether. Finish quality is excellent and while
there are a few very minor signs of use, there's nothing
substantial to detract from the car's awesome look. It appears to
be wearing all its original sheetmetal, including the quarters, and
the paint work is laser straight so you know this wasn't a cheap
respray. The Mach 1 stripes are reflective like the originals,
there are proper '351' callouts on the hood scoop, and it looks
long and lean thanks to a chin spoiler and rear window slats. They
guys who built this car totally nailed the look. There's not a lot
of chrome, but the brightwork that remains is excellent, adding
just the right contrast to the all-business bodywork. The interior
gets the details right as well, from the high-back buckets with red
stripes to the woodgrained appliques that help warm things up a
bit. It's worth noting that this is a factory 4-speed car, and with
the Hurst linkage, it racks through the gears with precision.
Factory gauges cover the basics but look great doing it, and they
are all operational including the clock. The three-spoke wheel is a
rim-blow unit, so use some caution because you may find you
inadvertently honk at other drivers if you squeeze it too hard. The
basic AM radio is also operational, but we'd argue that the radio
is the least important part of this awesome fastback. Monogrammed
floor mats keep things tidy and the fold-down rear seats make the
Mustang fastback one of the most practical muscle cars you can own.
The headliner is taut and fits well and the trunk is neatly
outfitted with a correct plaid mat and full-sized spare tire
assembly.The M-code 351 cubic inch V8 was a Windsor in 1969 and
with a 4-barrel carburetor, it cranked out the same 290 horsepower
as the legendary Boss 302 with a much fatter torque curve. Dressed
in Ford Blue engine enamel, the burly small block looks great in
the satin black engine bay and runs extremely well. Easy starts, a
nice rumbling idle with just a bit of a lope, and plenty of power
out on the road. It carries a correct Autolite air cleaner assembly
on top of an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, and a modern Pertronix
ignition system lights it up. Other worthwhile details include a
proper Autolite voltage regulator on the inner fender, reproduction
decals throughout the engine bay, and a correct heavy-duty radiator
up front. Power steering and power front disc brakes are welcome
additions, making this Mustang easy to drive. The 4-speed manual
transmission is a standard wide ratio unit that's a blast to snap
through the gears and feeds 3.00 gears in the 9-inch rear end, so
it's an easy highway cruiser. The undercarriage is finished in red
oxide primer and shows well despite some minor signs of use over
the last few years. The dual exhaust system uses stock-style
mufflers for just the right tone, and there's a new gas tank
hanging out back. The torque box areas are solid, as are the
rockers and floors, and all the lines and hoses are recent. 15-inch
Magnum 500 wheels are always a great choice on a vintage Mustang,
with these carrying staggered 215/65/15 front and 235/60/15 rear
BFGoodrich T/A radials.Documentation includes a Marti Report and
some maintenance receipts. This car nails the look, the performance,
and the attitude of the original Mach 1, and without checking the
numbers, nobody will be able to tell the difference. Better yet, it
has all the right hardware to make it a blast to drive and as we
said, there aren't many better-looking Mustangs than this. If that
