Vehicle Description
1998 Chevrolet Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car Convertible Why This Car
Is Special 1998 marked the return of the Corvette Convertible as
well as the return of the Corvette as the Pace Car for the
Indianapolis 500. For that occasion, Chevrolet produced the 1998
Pace Car replica that featured a color scheme that was like no
other. It was an exclusive Radar Blue paint scheme with extensive
Indy 500 graphics, yellow wheels, and yellow interior accents and
it served as the official pace-car from the race with the replicas
that were virtually identical to the production model variants that
were built to commemorate the event. Unlike most other pace cars,
which require mechanical modifications to bolster the car's
performance to meet the rigors of pacing the massive racetrack, the
Corvette came equipped with enough horsepower to handle the demands
of leading the pack with ease. We have a 1998 Chevrolet Corvette
Indy 500 Pace Car Convertible here at Skyway Classics that is one
of only 547 made, extremely low-mileage example with just 8354
miles recorded, equipped with 6-Speed Manual Transmission, and is a
stunning, time-capsule, original condition accompanied by the
original window sticker Features 1998 Chevrolet Corvette Indy 500

Pace Car's LS1 engine did receive a freer-flowing intake manifold
and modified exhaust system designed to boost the car's horsepower
from 345 to 370 horsepower, but this was done as a means of
differentiating the 'official' car from the 'replicas.' Ours has
the 5.7-Liter LS1 Aluminum V8 Engine with Sequential Fuel Injection
that has 345 horsepower at 5,600rpm, with all the correct factory
fuel rail covers, injection, factory exhaust, 6-Speed Manual
Transmission, 4-Wheel Independent Suspension, 4-Wheel Disc Brakes,
power steering, and air conditioning. You€ll be impressed by the
LS1 V8 as it has a great power-to-engine-weight ratio and massive
low-end torque, all combined with high-revving character that was
once the exclusive domain of overhead cam engines. It rides on
performance black sidewall tires and factory 5-spoke yellow painted
mag wheels and handles as good as it looks. Interior The interior
is like new with its super twin yellow leather bucket seats, black
convertible top, factory carpet, center console, the cockpit and
dash with all the factory gauges, and the iconic Corvette factory
controls. It has all power options galore that keep you comfortable
like power windows, locks, seats, mirrors, trunk release, tilt
Corvette steering wheel, and a Bose sound system that can all be
enjoyed in this Corvette. Exterior It is painted in the factory
exclusive Radar Blue paint scheme with extensive Indy 500 graphics,
yellow wheels, and yellow interior accents and this extremely
well-preserved Corvette Indianapolis 500 Pace Car has covered a
mere 8354 miles from new and represents a unique opportunity to buy
one of the 547 models that were built as ours is in 'time capsule'
condition. The factory paint certainly looks like it did when new
with a lot of shine flowing over the sleek Corvette hood and
fenders and the swoopy side scoops and body molding. These C5
Corvettes are long and lean and look fast even when sitting still.
