Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is excited to present to you today this "real
deal" 1968 Pontiac GTO. This GTO sports the required "242" VIN, it
comes with PHS documentation, and it boasts an original
numbers-matching 400ci V-8! According to the trim tag and
documents, this car was a Primavera Beige with a Black interior. It
now wears a stunning coat of Candy Red Metallic paint in good
driver condition that glistens beautifully in the light. Up front,
you'll find the iconic body-color Endura bumper with dual
side-by-side headlights, split grille, and Pontiac emblem. The hood
features dual scoops on either side of a prominent bulge, extending
rearward from the protruding nose. Concealed windshield wipers are
hidden below the rear edge of the hood. The side view puts on full
display the curvaceous semi-fastback styling of this second-gen
GTO. Bright elements are plentiful and in good condition, with the
chrome window trim, drip rail molding, wheel lip molding, rocker
molding, side mirror, and chrome door handles all adding a visual
pop against the slick paint. Both front fenders wear "GTO 6.5
liter" fender badges and the rear quarters have black "GTO" decals
just ahead of the Pontiac "Dart" running lights. Around the back,
you'll find a gleaming chrome rear bumper with integrated
taillights and dual tailpipes peeking out from underneath. A quick
look underneath reveals a newer gas tank. The stance of this GTO is
just perfect as it sits atop a set of great-looking PMD Rally Mag
wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A's.
Under the hood is a very tidy and organized black engine bay that's
home to a numbers-matching 400ci Pontiac V-8 dressed appropriately
in Pontiac Blue. The stout V-8 is topped with stock heads, intake,
and 4-barrel carburetor as well as chrome valve covers and a chrome
air cleaner. Exhaust travels from cast manifolds through glass-pack
mufflers and out the twin tailpipes with an aggressive growl that's
sure to please. The engine is mated to a 1969 Muncie M20 4-speed
manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels via a
10-bolt GM rear end with a Limited-Slip differential. While you're
under the hood you'll also see that this is a manual steering car
and it recently underwent a power front disc brake conversion - a
fabulous upgrade.
Open the driver's door and the dome courtesy light pops on to
illuminate a stunning black interior. Door panels appear
OEM-correct, with the exception of 6" round speakers added to the
lower section. The front bucket seats are dressed in black vinyl
that looks fantastic and shows no real signs of wear. Between the
buckets is a center console that offers an armrest/storage box that
contains a Mecca 7-band EQ and booster for the stereo in the dash.
The console is also home to a Hurst shifter with a wood pattern
ball with a GTO emblem that operates the 4-speed Muncie. The rear
bench seat wears the same vinyl as the front and looks just as
nice. The driver is treated to a wood-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel
with a working PMD horn button at the center. The dash is in
excellent condition with a crack-free vinyl dash pad, a
chrome-framed woodgrain gauge and instrument bezel, and a
black-painted steel lower section. In the dash is a working combo
gauge with fuel, temp, and oil pressure as well as a 120mph
speedometer and an 8K tachometer - all three circles ringed with
chrome trim. The odometer reads 58,626 miles and the title confirms
that mileage to be actual! Also in the dash are controls for the
working heat and fan, a knob for the working 2-speed wipers, and a
Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette stereo that plays through the door speakers
as well as a pair of 6X9's on the rear package tray. Ahead of the
passenger is an empty glovebox. Overhead you'll find a tight black
vinyl headliner and front shoulder safety restraints while
underfoot is a nice black hook loop carpet. Back in the trunk is a
car cover, a fire extinguisher, and a spare with a vinyl cover.
If you've been looking for a second gen GTO or just a cool muscle
car from the late 60's then you're going to love this ride! It
looks great, sounds great, drives great - and it's a real GTO with
a 4-speed Muncie and a numbers-matching engine! This car is sure to
find a new home quickly so don't wait - give our friendly staff a
call today and make this awesome Pontiac your own!
