"Wow!" is the exact reaction we have heard from anybody that has
laid eyes on this car. It is truly the type that leaves you
speechless as you walk around it trying to take it all in. Yes
beauty is in the eye of the beholder but we have yet to find a
single person who doesn't agree this may be one of the most
gorgeous cars they have seen. It has undergone a complete
restoration and is without a doubt one of the nicest out there. The
process took 18 months to complete with no corners cut along the
way. It has remained in Texas its entire life and since being
finished has only been driven 100 miles to insure everything was
working properly. The 1957 Buick Special 40 Riviera body is laser
straight and looks amazing from front to rear. From the side these
cars were similar to the tri five cars but with quarter windows and
other unique body accents like the side trim they really take it to
the next level. The car is painted in a Red Metallic 2 stage paint
that makes the perfect combination with all that chrome. You would
really have a tough time finding a better color. There is just
something about the look of this car that grabs you. We have seen
50's Buicks in the past so we aren't unfamiliar with these cars but
this one is just something special. The large front bumper and
grill have an excellent finish as does all the other
chrome/stainless on the car. In fact 14K of the invested dollars
went strictly towards the chrome/stainless work. It has all of the
correct style emblems throughout and all are cleanly mounted as is
the front fender accents on both sides. All of the glass is in good
condition and the windows have been covered with a nice tint. The
car has a great stance and one of the best choices in the
restoration process had to have been deciding on white wall wrapped
Kelsey Hayes wire wheels because they look perfect on the car.
The drive train of the car as well as the interior and underneath
is just as nice as the top. Under the hood is a 364 c.i. 250hp
Nailhead motor that has been finished out in a nostalgic original
style. This isn't a car where you need a bunch of bolt on chrome to
get attention because the beautiful original appearance has just as
nice of a finish. All of the painted components look like new and
everything is very cleanly done. The engine compartment gets just
as much respect as the body of the car does. A 2 barrel carburetor
is in place which has been adjusted to a nice smooth idle. The car
was equipped with factory AC originally and this system is still in
place but has been upgraded with a more modern compressor. Other
nice luxuries include the power steering system which makes it
extremely easy to drive. It has dual exhaust routed out of the back
which deliver an awesome sound. An automatic transmission backs up
the motor and sends horsepower through the enclosed drive shaft to
the 3:58 gear rear end. A 20 gallon fuel tank is in place which is
plenty to keep this 122in wheel based machine rolling for a good
while.
If all of that doesn't have you convinced that you won't find
anything better then the interior is sure to be the icing on the
cake. It is done in a 2 tone brown leather and was extremely well
done. Apart from being very comfortable it just looks awesome!
Little touches like incorporating the leather into the dash pad and
glove box door create a look that you may have never seen before.
On the dash you will find a lot of the original style components
but features like the gauges have been fully restored. A vintage AM
radio is in place but this is strictly for licks. A hidden
AM/FM/Satellite/MP3 stereo was added and hidden to preserve some of
the original look of the dash. This allows you to have the best of
both worlds, the vintage look everyone loves and the modern sounds
that only a new stereo can provide. The steering wheel was also
fully restored and is painted white.
But wait! Theres more! The trunk is done just as nicely and a
custom boot was made to hide away the spare. Look around at other
cars out there and you will find yourself always thinking back to
this one. There aren't a ton of these out there on the market and
those that are come no where close to this classic!
Don't miss this chance because it won't be around for long!
