For Sale: 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air in STERLING, Illinois

Vehicle Description

The Bel Air is a full sized car produced by Chevrolet from 1950 through 1981. From 1950 – 1952 the Bel Air was a designated model for two-door hardtops. In 1953 it became a premium trim level that applied to multiple body styles. Chevy introduced the 2nd generation in 1955 with new, revamped styling and Bel Airs came with features found on lower level cars plus a long list premium upgrades. Some of the upgrades included interior carpeting, chrome headliner bands on hardtops, chrome spears on the front fenders, stainless steel window moldings, full wheel covers and a Ferrari inspired front grill. In 1956 the Bel Air received a face-lift which included a more conventional full width grill, two-tone body side treatments, Speedline restyled wheel openings, a single housing for the tail, brake and reverse lights as well as hidden gas filler neck hidden under the left tail housing. This particular example is a 3 family car that the 3rd family acquired in 1989. In 1993 they began restoring it which took close to 2 years. During the restoration a new Goodwrench 350 crate engine and Turbo 350 transmission were installed, the front brakes were converted to disc brakes and the car was gone through from top to bottom. At the same time the colors were changed to a gorgeous two-tone Tropical Turquoise and India Ivory with a Turquoise and Ivory vinyl interior. It also received a few rare options such as the Continental kit, view finder and tissue dispenser. Other options include the front bullet style bumper guards, front seat belts, fender skirts, tinted glass, an electric clock, electric wipers and a dual exhaust system. It has a Custom Autosound stereo and it sounds amazing ripping through its all stainless steel dual exhaust system. The restoration was completed 29 years ago and the car has only been driven 4,898 miles since. There is a button that needs sewn back onto the driver seat back and the front passenger button is falling off. Other than those issues the car is in amazing condition and looks like it was finished a year ago not almost 30. We are serious about finding a new home and are basically asking what it cost to restore it without factoring in the cost of the original car so if you like what you see don’t wait until it is too late to reach out!
