is a beautifully restored example of Italian automotive history,
finished in the striking and rare Blu Turchese (Turquoise Blue),
Fiat Paint Code 419. This vibrant exterior color gives the car a
distinctive look, blending a vintage aesthetic with a lively, fresh
appeal. The restoration process was meticulously executed by a
seasoned Fiat specialist in Sicily, a gentleman in his 70s with
decades of experience perfecting these iconic cars. Impressed by
the quality of his work, The Car Cave brass recently visited the
Fiat shop in Sicily, witnessing firsthand the painstaking
craftsmanship involved in building and restoring these vehicles. As
a result, Car Cave has forged a long-term partnership, allowing us
to offer a variety of Fiat 500 models in different colors, styles,
and builds. Contact us for more information about our available
inventory or to commission a custom-built Fiat 500 tailored to your
specifications. The exterior of the car shines in Turquoise Blue, a
color that beautifully highlights the Fiat 500's fun style and
compact size. We believe these cars deserve a bright and cheerful
hue that stands out, especially against the chrome accents on the
bumpers, door handles, and trim. Every panel has been carefully
restored to reflect the car's original lines, with all chrome
elements replaced or polished to a fine shine. The addition of a
rear luggage rack and basket not only adds a nostalgic touch but
also serves a practical purpose, although we've only used it to
hold wine and cheese. The interior has been restored in
Ochre-colored leatherette, a material with vertical lines that
mirrors the original design's style. This warm, rich tone, similar
to saddle color, creates one of the best contrasted color
combinations we have seen. The vertical lines in the upholstery
give the interior a retro, period-correct look while providing a
comfortable and stylish environment for the driver and passengers.
The carpets match the upholstery and contrast with the black dash,
interior trim, and black vinyl folding roof. On top of the carpet
is a full floorboard rubber mat to keep the carpets clean even when
you are wearing your muck boots, driving through your orchard,
towards your vino filled sunset picnic. The attention to detail in
the stitching and finishing of the seats, door panels, and
dashboard showcases the care taken during the restoration and
quality of parts and suppliers used to complete the
build.Mechanically, the car has been thoroughly overhauled. The
rear-mounted, air-cooled 499 cc two-cylinder engine has been
rebuilt to run smoothly and reliably, maintaining its original
specifications while benefiting from a mechanic with decades of
experience. The engine has been finely tuned and runs incredibly
smoothly. Paired with a four-speed manual transmission, this Fiat
500 delivers a nimble and engaging driving experience, perfectly
suited to its compact size. The handling is responsive, and the
ride, cushioned by new white wall tires, is smooth and comfortable.
These tires not only enhance the car's drivability but also add a
finishing touch to its classic appearance, accentuating the car's
vintage style while ensuring modern roadworthiness. The restoration
did not stop at the bodywork and engine. The suspension, brakes,
and electrical systems were all inspected and restored or replaced
as needed, ensuring the car performs reliably for its next owner.
The gearbox was rebuilt and shifts smoothly, and the newly fitted
brakes provide confidence for both city driving and country road
excursions. Every element of the car was carefully considered,
ensuring it feels as 70's new as it looks. Please review our
extensive picture catalog documenting the rebuild process.Visiting
the Sicilian workshop where this car was restored adds a
significant chapter to its story. Seeing the skilled hands at work
in the same space where countless Fiat 500s have been lovingly
rebuilt provides a rare connection to the car's roots. The workshop
is a time capsule, filled with the tools and parts necessary to
breathe new life into these iconic vehicles. The restorer's
dedication to preserving the Fiat 500's original character is
evident in every detail, from the color choices to the
period-correct materials used throughout. Our personal journey to
Sicily added a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship involved
in bringing this classic car back to life. This 1970 Fiat 500 (110F)
stands as a symbol of Italian ingenuity, style, and the passion of
its restorers. The combination of its rare Turquoise Blue exterior,
the warm Ochre interior, and the story of its restoration make it a
truly special example of a classic microcar. Whether admired for
its historical significance, enjoyed for its nimble, fun character,
or cherished for its Italian roots, this Fiat 500 embodies the
spirit of Italy's automotive golden age. It's a car that not only
looks fantastic but also carries a story of craftsmanship, passion,
and personal connection, making it a unique fun piece for any
enthusiast or collector.
