For Sale: 1971 Pontiac GTO in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Rare! Only 678 convertibles made total. Last year of a GTO convertible ever. Documented by Pontiac Historical Services. This one was ordered loaded up too.

EXTERIOR: Great looking car, the enduro front end is tough looking. This one is painted a glossy Starlight black. It has the judge stripes, rear spoiler and sport mirrors to really set it off. Not a perfect paint job but it presents itself real well, has a glossy finish. It does have a very solid body. Clean jambs, new weatherstrips. Rear bumper is rechromed. Has exhaust splitter tips. Rally ll wheels are restored and the BF Goodrich tires look new. The black convertible top is real nice, weatherstrips are replaced.

INTERIOR: Overall very good condition. The upholstery is in very good shape. Obviously it's bucket seats with the center console, has custom shift knob. The headrests and plastic seat trim is really nice. The door panels are new, rears are good original. It has factory gauges in the dash, the instrument panel is in really nice shape. It still has it's original Am-Fm radio in the dash, a stereo is hidden in the glovebox. There are speakers in the molded kick panels. It also has a factory tilt column with cruise control lever and it a custom steering wheel. It has power windows and top too. Carpet is excellent, has GTO floormats.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Not show quality but respectable. Has a 400 motor upgraded with aluminum intake, new Holley carb and HEI ignition. It is a factory air condition car but no longer has compressor and hoses. The cruise control components are there but not hooked up to the new carb. It also features power steering and brakes.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Working power trunk release in the glovebox. Very solid trunk compartment. Looks like it has original quarter panels. It also has a trunk mat, spare and jack.

UNDERSIDE: The front end was rebuilt- balljoints, bushings, shocks, tie rod ends etc. Gas shocks in back. Has Rallye suspension which includes sway bars and boxed control arms. Bottom of the motor is clean. Starter, fuel pump and flywheel cover is new. Turbo 400 automatic looks fresh. Exhaust has stainless pipes with x-pipe and correct splitter tips. Brakes are restored. Has disc in front. Recent calipers, hoses and lines. E-brake looks complete. Fuel tank and straps were replaced. Floors are solid, even the lower inner 1/4s.

I think it's priced at a bargain! Only 678 made total, how many exist? This one is loaded and documented by Pontiac Historical Service. Not perfect, but it looks great, runs and drives great. Rare and desirable convertible!
